caribbean cruise charters

Different people use Caribbean yacht charters for different reasons and while some of these could be personal, there are those who do it for business reasons. Whatever your reason might be might be, if you choose to entertain visitors, there are a couple of things that you need to know first. For starters, it is important to have a clear picture of the number of guests you expect.

This is because these come in different sizes and they have the capability of accommodating specific number of people. If you don't know this, then you might end up getting a large or smaller yacht and this can either create the wrong image or cause you to spend more than you should. Whatever you choose, it is important to ensure that there are no chances of overcrowding to ensure that all your guests get pleasure from the voyage.

Another important consideration you have to weigh when using charter yacht Caribbean to entertain guests is by finding out more about the locations you can visit. This is because this area offers great places which will ensure that they are thrilled with the experience. Also, there are activities such as fishing, snorkeling, diving and water skiing which can be enjoyed during this time. While on it, you can also decide to have some pictures taken as they are largely known to deliver great pictures as well.

Another important factor that you need to consider when hiring Caribbean yacht charters is the budget you have in mind. This is important as it influences your final decision and there are several factors that come into play. For starters, the cost will depend on the amenities and facilities incorporated in the yacht. Note that depending on the choice you make different models have different amenities and it is up to you to choose what appeals most to you. Another consideration that has to come into play in regards to the budget is the size. Make sure that you zero on these factors to increase your chances of making an informed decision.

Always make sure that the Charter yacht Caribbean you choose is in the right working condition and that is well maintained. This is important as it guarantees all those aboard that they are well taken care of and in good hands. What is more, it will be easier to rest easy knowing that there are no unseen surprises during the entire voyage. By weighing all these factors, it should be comparatively easy to ensure that your guests stay entertained.

Double Standards

Despite Cuba's human rights abuses, against all odds, Raúl R. Alfonsín, President of Argentina, a nation historically devastated by undemocratic leaders and military warlords, trip to Havana in the 80s. Since then, this visit was a serious setback to the fragile democratic community in Latin America.

While Alfonsín --Argentina's first democratic President since the 1976 coup-- visited the Palace of the Revolution, home to Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz -who had ruled the Island from 1959 to 2008- and the Cabaret Tropicana (according to Cuban press "the world's best cabaret" and a favorite place to friends of the Caribbean tyranny), several citizens, critics and opponents of the pro-Soviet dictatorship, were imprisoned on Cuba, among them Ever Peñalver Mazorra, who was one of the two longest-serving black political prisoners on Earth, together with Nelson Mandela. Certainly, one cannot discuss about democracy and human rights and travel to Cuba to visit Fidel Castro.

Some years ago, the Republic of Argentina had had one of the most painful chapters of its national history as the military regime, led by Jorge Rafael Videla, came to power, overthrowing the democratic government of María Estela Martínez de Perón, who was the first female President in the Western Hemisphere between 1974 and 1976.

From 1976 to 1981, Videla and his undemocratic regime slaughtered more than 30,000 people. In addition to this, at least 400 children were disappeared. In the meantime, hundreds of people fled to Europe, including Julio Cortazar, one of Argentina's well-known authors. On the economic side, Argentina became one of the countries of the Third World because of Videla's economic mismanagement. In that period, Jorge Pérez Esquivel, the nation's most celebrated campaigner for democracy and human rights, captured the Nobel Prize for Peace in Stockholm, Sweden.

On the world stage, curiously the military rule had important diplomatic, cultural and economic ties with the Kremlin. By the early 80s, a Soviet delegation, led by world-class chess player Anatoly Karpov, went to Buenos Aires.

Second-class Democracies

After winning the support of Argentina's democratic regime, Fidel Castro, one of the most notorious tyrants in the latter half of the 20th century, sent a number of national delegations -made up of athletes, coaches, doctors, nurses, military advisers performers and politicians-- to Bolivia, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and some English-speaking countries.

During the Cold War, the Cuban tyranny sent up to 2,500 doctors to Latin America and Africa. After donating 50,000 vaccines to Brazil, Havana signed an agreement with the Brazilian Minister of Health, Luis Carlos Borges da Silveira, in October 1988. A year ago, Conrado Martínez Corona, President of the INDER (the National Institute of Sport, Physical Education and Recreation), arrived in Santo Domingo to sign an Olympic agreement calling for closer bilateral ties with the Dominican Republic.

In parallel, with Soviet backing, a host of Latin contingents -anti-American persons, former terrorists, Marxist politicians, radical feminists and young politicians - arrived in Havana. For example, in that time, Diego Armando Maradona, the second most outstanding athlete in soccer history (after Pele), arrived for a week's visit at the invitation of pro-Soviet dictator Fidel Castro Ruz. On the other side, between 1959 and 1999, up to 39,283 persons from 120 countries and dependencies studied on Cuba.

Historically, the region has had a host of dictators, warlords, satraps, despots, from Rafael Trujillo (Dominican Republic) and Juan Velasco Alvarado (Peru) to Luis García Meza (Bolivia), Jean-Claude Duvalier (Haiti) and Manuel Antonio Noriega (Panama). Nonetheless, despite its past, Latin America -with over 25 democratic governments since the 2000s-- does not support democracy and human rights in the Island of Cuba.

Astonishingly there is no solidarity with the Cuban people -under a military dictatorship for more than half a century-- and its pro-democratic organizations such as the "Ladies in White". Latin America's apathy as Fidel Castro Ruz arrested 75 prominent human rights activists in the early 2000s was a good message to many anti-democratic leaders in the Third World, while Western Europe and Washington condemned the brutal character of the Cuban dictatorship.

The Alfonsín Legacy

Apart from the support of allies such as Hugo Chavez and Evo Morales, Havana has the powerful pro-Castro lobby -made up of artists, former guerrillas, intellectuals, Marxist legislators and xenophobic persons -- in several Latin democracies.

The pro-Cuban lobby on Latin American policy was evidenced as ironically many democratic governments refused to meet dissidents and human rights activists during the years from 2000 to 2010.

Under the strong influence of the pro-Cuban lobby on Peruvian politics, after condemnation of Cuba's regime in Geneva (Switzerland), Peru's then-President Alejandro Toledo could not break ties with Havana as Cuba's dictatorship refused to apologize to the Peruvian administration for insults done to them during the United Nations Commission on Human Rights Session. In Switzerland, Peru had condemned to Havana. A few hours later, in Lima, over ten legislators, among them vice-President of Peru, went to Cuba's Embassy to "apologize to the Castro regime".

By August 2007, two Cuban fighters, who had disappeared during the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, were arrested by police and sent back to Havana. Brazil's athlete Ricardo Aroma said, "They said they felt pressured because the Cuban government could deprive their families in Cuba of electricity and supplies". Despite having signed the United Nations Convention Relating to the Status of refugees, Brazil, under the government of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, supported that controversial decision. Ironically, during the military rule, from the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s, several Brazilians had sought political asylum in Europe and other nations.

In this century, we need to see a lot of Latin Americans fight for democracy and human rights. The democratic governments, from Costa Rica and Chile to Jamaica and Peru, should put Cuba on the Latin American agenda. Meanwhile, the American administration and its allies should refuse to issue visas to the pro-Castro lobbyists in Latin America. The Island needs action now!

Do other people from Caribbean Islands criticize Haiti because we are pure Black and poor ?

I often hear from Jamaicans,Trinidadian's and Bajan's that they hate Haitians they hate us why is this.? I do also notice a majority of English Speaking Caribbeans are Mixed Heritage while Haitians are not

Most people in the Caribbean are perfectly fine acknowledging and understanding their ancestry. They don't need to say the vague term ''black'' every where they go, like Americans. They're proud of being apart of the nationality and culture they're apart of and they understand the West African influences in their culture.

Demographically speaking, Haiti is one of the most African descended islands, but there still are many mulatto's on the island. Jamaica's had more recent immigration, but 91 percent of the island is reported as ''black'', only 4 percent less than Haiti. Without the immigration, it's similar. The Caribbean islands that have the highest concentration of European ancestry are the Spanish speaking islands. Cuba used to be predominantly of Spanish/European ancestry, until their affluent defected when the Communists took over. Puerto Rico still currently is majority of European descent, and not mixed. The reason for this is the Royal Decree of Graces, implemented by the Spanish Monarchy in 1815, effective through 1898. It gave white European Catholics free land to move there to ''whiten'' the island. Many of these descendants still live there. 1/4 of Puerto Rico left to the U.S. from the mid-40's through the mid-60's. More of those people proportionally were black and mulatto. Those with money and education didn't need to leave as much. The Dominican Republic is about three-quarters mulatto. There's similar amounts of European and African ancestry in that country. In Haiti, most of their white (French) population left in 1804, after France lost that war. Many actually went to the whiter Caribbean islands. They had an alliance with Spain that'd allow for them to move in apart of the Royal Decree. Some went back to France too. Eventually, the mulattos took over the power of that country, as they had the most wealth, in 1804, and still do.

Most black Jamaicans, Trinidadians and Bajan's are actually less likely to be ''mixed'' than African-American's. It's all about how you look at it. Because the majority of those islands are of full or near full African descent, being ''mulatto'' is more unique and sticks out from the black population. People there would socially refer to themselves as ''mulatto'' more commonly. With African-American's, most trace roots to the southern United States. During the time of slavery, there was a similar population of white's and black's living there. Many African-American women were raped, but there was also much voluntary sex between both, leaving a mulatto offspring. The difference is many American's look at that as just ''black.'' In much of Spanish speaking Latin America, that's just ''white.'' In the English, French and Dutch speaking Caribbean, that's ''mulatto.''

The reason why some Dominican's don't like Hatians is because they're on the same island of Hispaniola and their civil unrest directly effects them. Many people sneak into the Dominican Republic seeking work or more comfortable living. Many don't have education or skills and they don't like that. Haiti's the only undeveloped country on the western hemisphere. There may be other Caribbean countries that don't like them for that reason. I don't think many people specifically hate Hatians. I'm not sure why they would. Many Jamaicans, like us Americans, just think their better than every other group period, so don't take what they say too personally. Most Caribbean islands that have higher degrees of education, affluence and better infrastructure, like Jamaica, Cuba, Barbados and Aruba, were apart of European colonial territories longer. Some, like Martinque, still are. Haiti cut off really early, and because of internal fighting for power of resources, it's been hard to make significant progress over the last couple centuries. Most Hatians living abroad who I've met, in the U.S. and Canada though, are hard working and educated. I figure those who have the most are probably able to afford living elsewhere more than anyone else. Many of those with education and money in Haiti who leave to America, Canada or Europe, actually have a higher chance of being mulatto, because mulatto's on the island more commonly have that.

Many people love traveling to various tourist destinations during holiday seasons and vacations. A plethora of options are available to travel consumers from many different travel resorts, hotel companies and travel agencies. One such popular option is the all inclusive vacation resorts.

Many resorts and hotels in America offer all-inclusive vacations during the holiday season. As the name suggests, these resorts offer a fabulous package inclusive of all charges and fees for all the amenities provided in these resorts. Many people have no idea about the exact service offerings at these all-inclusive resorts. Some travel related websites have dedicated teams who research and survey the market and compile guides for prospective vacationers. Various travel related magazines as well as travel related television channels constantly update their readers and viewers with the latest information on the travel front. Most of these guides are free of cost while some may be charged.

Vacationers need to identify their needs and preferences before selecting a vacation destination. For example, couples would have different needs than family members. Couples are most likely to choose a romantic vacation spot with a beautiful ambience and peaceful atmosphere whereas family vacationers prefer fun filled amusement resorts with activities and amenities suitable for all members of the family.

All-inclusive resorts typically offer a consolidated package that includes all charges for meals and drinks throughout a person's stay, return airfares, lodging and accommodation, on site entertainment and activities, gratuities and all applicable taxes. Such packages are very convenient for leisure travelers as after selecting a resort and paying the package amount, they can forget about all kinds of hassling logistics of the holiday. These are taken care of by the resort management thus facilitating the guests to enjoy a stress free vacation.

All-inclusive resorts also offer competitive deals as they combine all the charges and thereby manage to give a discount on their services. This works out cheap as compared to taking all these facilities individually and from different providers. It is advisable for vacationers to refer to free travel guides online to know more about all-inclusive resorts and the packages available.

Winter months can be very unpredictable weather wise. Temperatures can fluctuate from the high 40s and then drop well below freezing. However sever snow storms do not occur very often.

The city itself is shaped like a diamond and is separated from Virginia by the Potomac. It covers an area of 67 square miles and is divided into four areas.

going on first holiday with baby.............?

going on first holiday with baby, tomorrow! she's 4 months (i've asked this a while ago) any advice .......?? on what i cant forget????

i'm going to caribbean!!

Bring:
* Plenty of diapers, wipes, formula (if you use it), bottles, nipples for the bottles, juice, blankets, changes of clothes, stuff for bath time, sunscreen, stroller, and any toys he/she likes. Make sure you have access to any/all of that while traveling.

If you'll be flying, either have bottles already made or bring bottled water so you can make a bottle during the flight (if you're using formula). Having the baby either feed or suck on a pacifier during take off and landing will help with their ears popping.

Make sure you keep yourself hydrated and well-fed, as well. Travel can be crazy on your body even without a baby with you.

Most importantly, have fun!

Edit: We have never had a problem bringing already-made bottles onto the plane. As long as you have the baby with you and put the bottles in the plastic, see-through, ziplock bags like you do for all other liquids/gels, and they see that it's formula, you'll be fine.

Where is the best place to go in the Caribbean with your grilfriend?

My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to the Caribbean at the end of November. We are going to get a cheap deal off selloffvacations.com at the last minute. I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations or things to look out for when planning this trip? I don't want to get there and have nothing for us to do, and we do not want to end up in a dump.

The only thing I know so far is we need to get at least a 4 star resort, and were going for all inclusive.

Without knowing what you like to do, it is hard to recommend specific locations, but at any rate I suggest you talk to a Travel agent that specializes in the Caribbean. I good agent will ask you a lot of questions and get to know you and then recommend several options for you. As far as resorts go, 4 star means some different to each person, for example does that mean butler service and lots of marble, or does it mean big rooms, fancy meals, great alcohol selections, lots of in resort activities. Maybe that means you really just want an ocean FRONT room right over the beach. Even for us professionals who have been to a lot of places it still takes us a lot of time to find the right place for clients, so try a travel agent, if you don't like the answer you can still use a click agency and take your chances.
have fun,

caribbean islands

caribbean islands

Formerly known as St. Christopher, many regard this island as the jewel of the Caribbean. Discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493, during Columbus's second voyage to the new world. He named it Saint Joerges, however, due to inaccuracies in maps at the time, naming islands was extremely difficult. The island became Saint Christobel, (Columbus's patron saint) and later changed to Saint Christopher.

In 1623, Englishman Thomas Warner landed on the island and claimed it for England. Establishing a colony there a year later it became the first British Territory in the West Indies. In 1625, a French ship, badly in need of repair after encountering the Spanish Armada, appeared in the harbor. After taking pity on them Warner allowed them to land in St. Kitts. This made St. Kitts the first French Colony in the Caribbean.

Being one of the Leeward Islands it is situated about 1300 miles southeast of Miami Florida. With a population of about 35, 000, the tiny island is only about 18 miles long and 5 miles wide.

As with many other Caribbean Islands, St. Kitts has a long history of being occupied by several different Indian tribes and European countries. Sugar cane and tobacco were the principle sources of income in the past, in the present day, however, tourism is the current staple.

St. Kitts is the home of Brimstone Hill Fortress, the largest fortress ever built in the Eastern Caribbean. St. Kitts is also the site of Warner Park Cricket Stadium where the 2007 World Cup matches were held. This distinction makes it the smallest nation to ever host a World Cup Event.

In 1967 St. Kitts along with it's sister Island Nevis, became an associated state of Great Britain and became fully independent while gaining full nation status in 1983.

St. Kitts has much to offer the visitor, with it's intriguing coves, hiking paths, dramatic vistas, palm lined beaches, there is little time left to visit Brimstone Hill Fortress, Romney Manor, Mt. Liamuiga, and the many other attractions.

If traveling to the island via cruise ship, book your tours early, the island railway, which was built to haul sugar cane from the fields to the processing plant, "is "a must do. " It's function in today's world is to transport visitors around the various scenic spots on the island, it does sell out early, so put this on your list of things to do and book on line before you leave home.

Whatever you decide to experience while there will make your stay an enjoyable experience and will leave you wanting to come back for more.

Do I need a passport to go on a cruise to the Caribbean Islands?

Also what country owns the Caribbean Islands?

You do NOT necessarily need one. If you are leaving from a US port you do not need one to cruise to the Caribbean islands. On entering the ship they will issue you with a ship pass which you are going to use to leave the ship, re-enter the ship, return through the ports and for purchases on the ship. You can also use your pass to shop duty free in the different islands. This same pass is like a credit card on the ship since your credit card will be linked to is so that is what you will use on the ship for entry into the restaurants as well as for entering your cabin.

Nevertheless, it is advisable to have a copy of your passport to take with you on the islands.

The British Virgin Islands (Tortola included) are owned by the British, US Virgin Islands are of the US, Martinique and Guadeloupe are owned by the French and Puerto Rico is a territory of the US. Places like Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados among others are all independent islands.

As of June 1, if you do not have a passport for cruise travel yoiu can still use a pass card or other form of ID.

Read this carefully so that you can see you could use an approved document. You will NOT be able to use oral declaration. Also check the link below.

* CURRENTLY:
All U.S. citizens must show proof of identity and proof of U.S. citizenship when entering the United States from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the countries of the Caribbean by land or sea.

U.S. citizens who do not have a single document verifying identity and citizenship must present both an identification and citizenship document; for example, a driver’s license and a copy of a birth certificate or naturalization certificate.

* LATER:
On June 1, 2009, the U.S. government will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI. The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have a passport, passport card, or other travel document approved by the Department of Homeland Security.

Fiji loves honeymooners which prompted a travel magazine to call Fiji "Honeymoon Heaven." Last summer, Forbes.com ranked Fiji among the lowest-priced countries for American travelers. If you are planning a honeymoon, anniversary celebration or vow renewal consider one of these three heavenly resorts.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort won, Best Overseas Resort, in Australia's Luxury Travel Magazine's annual 2010 Gold List with good reason. It was the first resort in Fiji with over-water bures (bungalows.) All 46 of Likuliku's thatched-roof bures feature lagoon views, but 10 of them are suspended over the Lagoon's reef edge. They are private, exclusive and beautiful. You can laze on your deck or luxuriate in your separate bathing pavilion with Lagoon views from your bathtub.

Although its most popular features are overwater bures, another good choice is a deluxe pool bure, right by the beach. There are only eighteen of these private sanctuaries on the beachfront, They feature air-conditioning, music systems, phones, flat-screen monitors and DVD player, secluded rear courtyard, outdoor shower, spacious deck, daybed retreat and personal plunge pool. They are surrounded by glossy-leafed greenery and brightly flowering hedges.

Likuliku Resort is also heralded for serving exquisite food, some say the best in the country. It could be so easy to stay cocooned in your romantic hideaway, and leave the drama of the world behind.

Likuliku is on Malolo Island in the Mamanuca group, within easy access of Port Denarau (a short drive from Nadi airport.) The resort has designed two very special wedding packages and a "renewal of vows" package to suit all needs. And certain times of the year, weddings are free. Rates range from $734 to $1233.

The Royal Davui Island Resort allows for no more than 32 guests on the island at any one time. Conde Naste magazine crowned them the most romantic island hideaway in the South Pacific and Caribbean. Set on a hillside, it has wonderful views of Fiji's finest lagoon. This is an adults-only, all-inclusive hotel and each room features a private plunge pool. If you want to elope, they are offering a free wedding package until March, 2011.

The Qamea Resort & Spa was selected as one of the top 10 hideaway resorts in the world by the Robb Report. This idyllic resort location is surrounded by jungle clad hills and white sand beaches. It recently opened the Qamea Jungle Spa which is perched on a cliff at the edge of the jungle. One of the resorts most unique features is the option to reserve a romantic afternoon on honeymoon beach-a totally private beach. They will whisk you away by ferry, supply you with a picnic lunch and bottle of wine and leave you totally alone on the island until you are ready to be picked up. You will possibly come back more in love than when you arrived at the resort.

Need help selecting honeymoon spot!?

Hey,

Im planning my honeymoon (fiance wants to be surprised!) And im having trouble finding a good spot!

Pretty much the number one thing that we want is privacy! A couples only all inclusive resort in the Caribbean somewhere would be ideal. Price range is around 4-6k and were going in July of 2011!
Were not interested in water sports except for snorkeling (if that's even considered a water sport?). It would be awesome if the facility had its own Jacuzzi or even private plunge pool.. but I know those are rather pricey! There is just so much to choose from.. and im feeling a bit overwhelmed! Input, whether its general advise or specific resorts to look into would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks alot!

This is where a great travel agent comes in. They know everything about how to get you what you want within your budget.

Everyone likes a good party. If you are a young traveler or just someone keen on having a good time while relaxing in the sun, then finding the right party island will be important to you. There are many islands in the world and all of them are beautiful, however, not all of them offer the party you may be looking for.

One of the best places to find party islands is in Greece. Visitors flock here for its amazing weather, beautiful beaches, warm waters, and great parties. Two of the best places to party are Ios and Corfu. Corfu is on the west coast of Greece. There are regular beach parties outside of the Atlantis nightclub and party goers stay at the infamous Pink Palace. During the day, people soak up the beautiful Mediterranean sun.

Ios has a lot of young tourists looking for one thing: parties. Ios is not only a party island but it is also beautiful and filled with culture (Homer was from here!). The island has a lot of great beaches with clear blue water. At night, everyone comes out for some great seafood and Greek dining before spending the evening doing body shots of each other and waking up on the beach. Most party goers end up staying out until sun rise and sleep it off while getting a tan during the day. This is an island for the night owl.

For those looking to get out of the Mediterranean, you can head over to Southeast Asia and the islands of Bali and Ko Phangan. Bali is one of the most popular destinations in the world. Located in Indonesia, this huge island has a bit of everything. And those looking for a party will find it on Kuta beach. Besides great surfing, this spot is known for its beach parties and excessive nightlife. Here the tourists get loud, get down, and get crazy. It's a cheap destination making it really popular among backpackers, Aussies, and Kiwis. After you burnt yourself out at night, treat yourself to a nice massage during the day.

Bali might be famous worldwide but Ko Phangan is the world's premiere party destination. This island is well known to all travelers. It hosts the famous Full Moon Party every month, when 20,000 or more people descend on Haat Rin beach to consume large quantities of alcohol and dance until dawn. All the partying happens on Haat Rin beach and every night, the beach fills up with crowds of revelers looking to just have a good time. There is always an excuse to party, whether it is a Full Moon, Half Moon, or Black Moon party. After a few of the islands famous alcohol buckets, you won't care what they call the party.

In the South Pacific, Fiji is well known to be a center of parties and activities. The most famous island group there is the Yasawa and that sees a lot of young backpackers who only have fun and sun on their mind. Here cheap bungalows, nightly BBQs, and cheap alcohol as well as beautiful beaches and great diving. It also helps that Fiji is a major stop on all RTW airline tickets.

No matter where you are or want to go in the world, there is an island with your name on it. You'll find what you are looking for and will be partying with sun soaked people from around the world in no time.

When would be the best time to go to the Bahamas, the Caribbean and Jamaica?

I'm planning a vacation and some options are the Bahamas (e.g. Atlantis), the Caribbean and Jamiaca (.e.g. Beaches)! What's the best time (MONTH) to go to each? The best time where there's minimum rain, maximum sunshine and the lowest temperature at 65-70 with the highest at 80-90? Mid to low storms would also be good.

If you could answer the cheapest month to visit (seperate from the climate questions above) that would be great too! Thanks!

All year round its summer in Jamaica, pretty warm. Winter (although we do not have winter here, but about that time of the year) its rainy, but coming down to summer its ceases the beaches are usually windy and cool, and you can expect that at anytime. Storm season is september to december, so its pretty rainy then. Summer is also a good time to get fruits like mangoes as that is their season. Cheapest may be in off season like March April May, Summer and winter especially winter will be high seasons.... may be your travel agent can give a more accurate picture of the seasons and their costs, either way i think you will have a good time...its the experience that matters!

Info on All inclusive Vacations to Caribbean?

I am looking for an all inclusive vacation to the Caribean does anyone know of a good place where drinks and food are all included.

There is a really good website called www.tripadvisor.com
just type in the name of a hotel or the area you want to stay in and it will give you the rating and personal comments of people who have stayed there.
I recently stayed at an all inclusive in the Dominican Republic on the northern part of the Island. It was ok but I feel I paid way to much for so so service and cold showers. Just use this web site above and take what people are saying as the truth and don't wing it. The place I stayed had mixed reviews and single people seemed to like it way more than families yet I winged it with my family and we were pretty dissapointed.
Hope this helps.

What to pack on 5 day cruise to Caribbean on NCL in December?

I'm going on a 5 day cruise to the Caribbean on NCL(Norwegian) in a couple days. What should I pack? What should I pack in my overnight/carry-on bag so I have essentials while I wait for them to deliver my luggage. I was thinking of packing several sun dresses, is this appropriate? I'm 24. Any other tips?

Don't overpack your carryon. It's usually only a couple hours until your room is ready. You'll be up on Lido Deck having lunch, standing in line, juggling a tray full of food, a dessert, a drink, and....your 50 pound overpacked carryon bag. I've done it. Not fun.

Keep it simple. You basically just need ID, passport, credit cards, medications (dramamine!), maybe a camera. If I'm taking something valuable or extremely fragile I'll put it in my carryon and avoid risking it to checked luggage. But otherwise, keep it light. Board with an outfit and shoes that you don't mind wearing for a couple hours and you should be good until the room opens up. You might want a jacket, depending on what city you are departing from. It's fun to explore the ship while you wait for your room to open, and it might be chilly outside in December.

The longest I've ever waited for the room to open was maybe 2 hours, and the longest I've ever waited for luggage was maybe 5 hours. Typically you will have luggage a lot faster than that.

Have a great trip. Feel free to e-mail you have questions.
