Getting married abroad ‘the legalities’?

Hi everyone
My fiancé and I have been engaged for a few years now and we’ve finally decided to bite the bullet and get married this year, we’ve decided to get married abroad (Caribbean most likely) as its cheaper and the weathers better, however I’ve been researching on the net and the legalities seem quite difficult, does anyone have any info or tips on which country’s best and simplest? I don’t fancy blood tests and translating/obtaining loads of docs etc…
Cheers
Shell

It all depends on where you live.

I am going to assume that you are British, with your use of the word "fancy" and its general context. My advice, check with a barrister.

where should we go in the Caribbean?

my family and i are planning another vacation.
we go on one every year.
the last 4 year we went on cruises.
so this year we decided to take a vacation to a resort.
we have been to a lot of places.

we are thinking about going to Jamaica or the Mayan Rivera.
what are some good resorts in those places?
we travel every February.
what are some good resorts that you have been to?
(one with a good beach and clean rooms is what we are looking for really.)

i totally understand that the resorts will not be the cleanest, but as long as they are not horrible.

so any good resorts or hotel chains you know of?

thanks in advance!!
we have already been to St. Maarten.

Stop making you're life more complicated than it probably is, I'm here to make it easy as its ever been. Two words: PUERTO RICO. We have from Ritz Carlton, to Marriott, Hilton Hotels, the Conquistador Hotel, Holiday Inn's, Howard Johnson's and the most spectacular that is hotel W in Vieques. No need to thank me, just remember this: Puerto Rico does it better!

Any suggestions on how I can support myself while sailing internationally?

I am ready to untie the dock lines and sail into the sunset! From Canada to the Caribbean then the Med! How can I earn a living?? My boat is pretty self sufficient, I only need about a $1000 a month living expenses. (I have a boat maintenance/repair emergency fund) I'll rent my house out but that will only pay for mortage and upkeep. Other then that I'm debt free! I could stick around for a couple of more years, but I want to take my doggy with me. If I wait that long, he might be getting too old to make the trip. BTW I am told there's no work for teaching english as a second language where I'm going & I refuse to charter. PLEASE...no internet pyramid marketing scams or surveys! I've been desperate enough to research them all! . But I am open minded about legit online business. Unfortunately there would be times that I will be away from the net for 3 to 4. I have been pounding my head against a wall for 3 years looking for answers!! SOMEONE PLZ HELP ME!!!

Build up a buzz abut the journey - discover something/follow some route etc - anything to have a newsworth purpose to your journey. My suggestion is sponsorship. Ellen Macarthur got around the world with it and got a knighthood (called dame for females)

Also arrange with local radios, magazines etc to make reports etc. Follow the exploits of "Around Ireland With a Fridge" and "500 Mile Walkies" for the kind of ideas.

Just make it an event instead of a bum around the Caribbean.

Also could you get your expenses down a bit - they still seem a bit high!

Transatlantic cruises, info requested on temp, enough to do, ect.?

We were thinking of doing a transatlantic cruise w/Royal Caribbean, is it warm enough to get a balcony?, enough to do while sailing. (we love sea days, find most ports to be trashy) the airfare seemed high for 1 way so we were thinking of booking 1 in the spring & 1 in the fall and purchase 1 round trip plane ticket each to barcelona. Any advise?

Sailed on Brillance of the Sea Nov. 2005 from Barcelona to Miami. Wonderful weather but the captain did announce he had shifted course to avoid storms. We loved our balcony (aft) and used it to the max As for activities, some days at the beginning of cruise will have port stops, then usually 4 or 5 days of sea. Lots of time to read, play cards, spa and make new friends. We are booked this year on Carnival Dream 16 day transatlantic leaving Italy Oct. 27. We have another aft cabin, so are hoping for good seas, but for us all days aboard are good days. As for one way air, check out airline consolidators on yahoo or google. Found a great rate to Rome for this fall.

Can you use Disney transportation if you aren't staying on Disney property? Where can I find the exact routes

I am considering staying within the "gates" but not on Disney property. I think we could walk to the Caribbean resort from our condo. Can I take the bus from there to the theme parks or do I have to be staying there? How do they know? Do you need to flash a card or wrist band?

AND - Is there a web site listing the routes of the buses, boats & monorail? I'm trying to figure out how we can get around without taking the car & paying parking.

Thanks!!!

I think I know which condo you are talking about walking distance to Carribean beach hotel. Believe me you cannot walk this. The roadway to the condo is a 1/2 mile long then from the cross st. another half mile to the Carribean beach hotel no sidewalk.

Each Disney hotel has a specific bus/transportation to each of their 4 major theme parks + water parks / downtown disney. You do not need a pass or ticket to use them

Can a person use a Military ID as a passport to travel on a cruise in the caribbean?

No, a military I.D. can never be used as a substitute for a passport for non-military travel. I don't know where that rumor comes from, but when you are traveling as a civilian, you must meet same requirements everyone else does. However, if your cruise begins and ends in the same U.S. port, it is a loop cruise. Passports are not required for loop cruises. See site below and read section on closed loop cruises. Your cruise line can confirm this.

Do they include breakfast at Disney Resorts?

We are staying in the Caribbean Beach Resort at Disney World in Florida. We were wondering if breakfast is included or if we would have to buy it on our own. Thank you in advance.

Dear Kiran,

All of the Disney resorts do not include breakfast at all! The Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort has one full restaurant that's serves only dinner and they also have a Food Court. Here's a description and price range for the restaurant and the food court.

Shutters is the restaurant that serves dinner. The price range of the entrees is from $16.00 to $28.00 dollars. The restaurant operates only from 5:00P.M. to 10:00P.M., and the restaurant seats 132-people. It's carved out of a corner in the food court. The three small dining rooms offer meat and pasta entrees that have a dose of Caribbean flavors. Though cursed with Disney's most generic decor, Shutters is comfortable, with fat chairs and big tables.

This next one will answer a little bit about your question for breakfast.

Centertown Food Court: The price range for breakfast is $2.00 to $8.00 dollars and breakfast is served from 6:30A.M. to 11:30A.M. The Centertown Food Court consists of these following restaurants to choose from: (and these all from the Official Disney website) Grab 'n Go Market
Rise early for pastries straight from the oven. Later in the day, stop by for fresh fruit and ice cream novelties. Royale Pizza & Pasta Shop
Breakfast selections, pizza and fresh sandwiches round out the menu at this Italian-style food shop. Old Port Royale Hamburger Shop
Start your day with whimsical Mickey waffles. Return for cheeseburgers, fries and chicken sandwiches. Bridgetown Broiler
Savor made-to-order omelets, hearty breakfast platters and succulent roasted chicken. Montego's Deli
Daily specialties range from pancakes to Philly cheese steaks. For a treat, try the New York-style cheesecake. And the lunch and dinner prices range from $6.00 to $15.00 dollars.

Like I said before, I found all of this on Disney's Official website as well as in a guidebook called The Complete Walt Disney World 2010. Also, The Centertown Food Court seats 500-people and Centertown Food Court hours for lunch and dinner is from 11:30A.M. to 11:00P.M. But, I really and truly do hope that this answers your question and helps you out. Down below is the official link to that page: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/caribbean-beach-resort/ .
Have a great trip! And if you have any other question that I might be able to help you out with for the trip, you can e-mail me at UniversalMan23@yahoo.com .

Sincerely,
Justin Day :) "Have A Magical Day!"

P.S. Here's the link to The Complete Walt Disney World 2010 guidebook and this is the best guidebook that I've ever seen and have on the Disney theme parks.

Camping in the Caribbean?

Does anyone know where someone can go camping in the Caribbean on an island that you can hike and snorkel? I dont want a place that has a campsite or things that are traditional. Something sort of off the beaten path. Is this even legal? just and island or a beach where someone can fly to and camp.

Thanks.

Yes. Culebra Island (part of Puerto Rico) is a good place to camp. The camp grounds are at Flamenco Beach which is one of the most goreous beaches with white sand & crystal clear water. There is great snorkeling here too, shallow reefs & clear water. The camp ground has water & amenities and its very safe. But it costs $20 to camp there. There are many beaches that offer camping in PR, but this one is the best & one of the safest. But to get here you will need to fly to San Juan & then to Culebra. Goodluck :)

Barbados or St Lucia for a family holiday?

We are planning to go on a holiday this summer to hopefully somewhere in the caribbean. We think we want to go to either Barbados or St Lucia. We have been to Barbados before, but that was about 10 years ago, so i cant really remember anything about it. We have two 15 year olds, a 9 year old and mum and dad, so we need something for everyone so i was just wondering wether Barbados or St Lucia would be better to go to, and could you also name a few good places there as well.
Thanks

If you went to Barbados already go to St.Lucia and experience the French Caribbean. St Lucia would be a lovely change and it is not as congested as Barbados.
