Should I Book my February Vacation Now or "Last Minute"?

My girlfriend and I are looking to book a trip to Jamaica in February I've currently found a couple deals that saves us a couple hundred dollars by leaving on a specific date (if we leave on a Sunday we save $200+ over leaving on a Saturday or Monday?) Do I book this vacation now? If I book the same resort for mid January I could save even more (another $200). Is this because I'm booking "Last Minute" or is this because of the season? Is January generally a slow month for Caribbean all inclusive resorts?

Any input on this would be great! Thanks in advance.

Book it now as that airfare may not be available later

Is It Possible to CreateYour Own Nation?

I know this scenario is on the far fetched side. But here goes.

You buy a private island let's say in the Caribbean. The island is under the sovereignty of the Bahamas.

You develop the island and turn it into a top shelf tourist destination. Of course this will cost millions of dollars to accomplish.

Tourists flock to your vacation spot with 5 star hotels, gambling, sandy beaches and fun times for all.

You decide you want to be free of Bahamian law and implement your own laws. So you negotiate with the government of the Bahamas to let your island go and you sign a proper treaty with the Bahamas regarding national defense (you'll pay for it), human rights (which you respect), immigration (your hotel workers need places to live) and it all agreed to.

So, can you then become ruler of your own nation?

Guys, imagine hard quick and hard China would go down on this guy. You'd be dead before you knew what hit you. Think about it, countries are always looking to expand and China's just about as imperialist as it gets these days.

I'm having troubles choosing a destination wedding location??!?

I want to get married on Nov.22, 2010 somewhere in the Caribbean and desperately need suggestions! I have done soo much research that I feel like I'm even more confused than before I started. We really liked the idea of Cuba (mainly because of the culture that surrounds the resorts so we would have lots of stuff to do while we were there so we didn't have to spend all of our time in the resort) but we haven't heard very great reviews about the resorts...then we were interested in Punta Cana but there isn't really anything to explore outside of the resorts.

We want it to be fairly affordable for our guests as well but would like to be in at least a 4-star resort that has at least 5 à la carte restaurants.

Please help by suggesting locations and resorts, I would be soooo grateful!

I had chosen bahamas paradise island Atlantis there is a lot to do there and package cost at lease 10,000 and on your wedding day you can go to the spa.there are many 5 star restaurant there like Mesa Grill by Bobby Flay you can swim with the dolphins or the lagoons and the casino if you guys like to go to clubs you can go to the Aura if not Atlantis I would recommend Sandals bahamas

Days of fun and a plethora of relaxing and entertaining activities to choose from, cruising the Caribbean promises to give you the chance to have the time of your life; building unforgettable experiences and making new friends or romantic interludes, far away from your fast-paced and demanding world. But aside from packing your best bikini or your most charming suit, follow these tips to make sure that you get what you ask for a perfect Caribbean vacation cruise.

Decide on the cruise line to take, long before your vacation break comes.

Usually, booking cruises in the Caribbean region is difficult especially in time for the holiday season. Early booking not only ensures that you get that spot aboard the best cruise ship but also discounts on your overall fee.

Think of the itinerary that you should book. If you are big on diving or in shopping, make sure that the destination of your cruises will go to the spots where you can do just that.

Determine how many days do you intend spend on vacationing. Most cruise options range from 3 to 10 nights. Of course, the longer you stay the more places you visit. Longer trips often go through port calls with stops in Mexico and Central and South America. Your travel budget may also help you decide on this matter.

Determine when you should spend cruising this year. Although cruises go all year round, most people book such trips in time for winter. Summer time is time for bargains where you can possibly find vacation cruises to Bermuda at much lower costs.

Never go to this trip without all the necessary documentation. For instance, don't ever forget your passport and other travel documents. Also, make an arrangement to your health insurance company to make sure that you are well taken cared for in the event of sickness while onboard.

Short Caribbean cruises cover only the Bahamas and sometimes Key West, Florida. One-week cruising are usually offered in three distinct flavors, which include Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean regions.

For hassle free cruising, make an all-inclusive arrangement with your intended trip. This is one way of ensuring that you do not have to bother with looking for hotel rooms or restaurants as everything will be provided and arranged for you. An all inclusive deal will keep you from stressing out on little things that may keep you from spending a great holiday break.

Never hesitate to ask your questions to a travel agent that specializes in cruises and cruising vacations. To get the information that you needed on the preparations and in the selection of your cruising package; all you need to do is ask for questions and recommendations.

If you happen to be traveling alone and do not want to share your cabin, make an inquiry if the cruising company you have chose has a guaranteed share rate. Anticipate that you may pay for a single's supplement charge, which range from 10 to 100 percent per person.

Lastly, why not make your family tag along as you plan to spend a sunny vacation at the coast? As the cliché goes, the more people you spend great time with, the more fun with Caribbean cruises you get.

I book a cruise for the eastern caribbean, but now think I should have booked the western caribbean, help!?

I just booked a cruise that goes to St. Thomas and Maarten, princess cays, and grand turk. It looks like all there is to do is either go to the beach or snorkle, and I'm afraid we will be bored or not enjoy it. Is there a lot more to do at Haiti, Cozemel, Grand Caymen, and ocho rios? I don't know if I should pay a fee to switch to the western caribbean or not. Also is there a lot to do on celebrity cruise lines?

This is why you need to do research BEFORE you book a cruise....

Yes, there would be more to do on a Western Caribbean cruise, if you don't just want to "beach it", although some people love the shopping in St. Thomas.

Haiti is the cruise line's private resort, so you wouldn't be going anywhere outside their gates [nor would you want to!]. Cozumel has great beaches, snorkeling, and shopping, as well as a bit of history and culture. Cayman is another shopping mecca for those who are into that and also has good snorkeling, Stingray City, beautiful beaches, etc. Ocho Rios has Dunn's River Falls and lots of active excursions, but isn't the safest or most-relaxing port [the vendors hound you endlessly!!].

On the other cruise, Princess Caye is the cruise line's private island, so you'd be on the beach or doing water activities. St. Thomas has beaches, snorkeling and shopping and access to St. John, which is prettier and quieter. Grand Turk really has nothing to offer except for beaches.

Basically, you go to the Caribbean to go to a nice, warm beach, no matter which islands you go to.

And if you're bored on a cruise, it's your own fault! There's too much to do on the ship to be able to do it all, although Celebrity is a less-active ambiance than some of the other lines. It also has better food and service and a classier atmosphere than most of the other mass-market lines.

If you want to read more about cruising, go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Reviews" [read the "Member Reviews" for your ship choices] or "Boards" for discussions about everything that has to do with cruising. "Ports of Call" would be a good place to start.

BTW - It sounds like you're talking about two different cruise lines, so changing your plans may not be so easy. If you have "cancel-for-any-reason" cruise insurance, then you're all set, of course.

Honeymoon Cruise IDEAS!!!?

Me and my fiance` want to go on a cruise for our honeymoon but have no idea what cruise liner to use! We are wanting to go cheap but want a fun time, 5 days would be enough :) I am thinking Bahamas, Caribbean, that kinda thing. Please give me some suggestions or who I should go through, should I use a travel agent?? If I book now will I get a discount since we are going in May 2011? Thanks!!

My persoanl favorite is Royal Caribbean. It is one of the top cruise liners in popularity and quality. However, you said you want cheaper and just want to have fun. Because of this, I think carnival would be the ship for you! Carnival is generally cheaper than most cruise lines and is very popular too. Its a popular line for adults in their 20's who just want to have fun. There are quite a bit of kids on board during holiday break and in the summer time though. I suggest you don't go during any of those times. Yes, carnival sounds like the line for you! :] To answer your question about the travel agent, I say yes because they know what they are talking about and can find the perfect fit for you!

Have you visited the Caribbean - wanting to know costs?

Where are the least expensive , moderate, and luxury islands ?

Mexico (cozumel, playa del carmen, cancun). All of the islands have to import all their supplies and it really raises the cost of goods. The three mentioned above are on the mainland (except the island of cozumel) and they have the infrastructure of a large nation to support them. check out the link below for hotel costs
