is the caribbean cruise i received in the mail a scam?

i received a 2 day cruise for 2 from florida to the bahamas. they said all i had to pay was the 118.00 for me and my fiance to get on the boat plus plane tickets to get from vegas to florida. i already gave them my credit card info to pay for the 118.00. i have heard from alot of different people on different websites that this is a scam but i dont think so. has anyone received anything like this?? if so please let me know if its a scam or not please a.s.a.p. thank you so much

Nope, not a scam. I myself went on this cruise. As a Nigerian Prince I take many cruises, sadly due to some really sad thing, most of my money is in the hands of some bad guys, but actually, this is a long shot, could you help?

You see, if I could transfer what is left of my money (only $50000000) to someone kind enough to help me, I could save what is left of my fortune before they take it from me. Of course you would be reimbursed for your trouble, %5 of what I send.

Would you kindly help, you naive fuckwit.

Barbados Real Estate is in great demand because Barbados has built a reputation as an attractive place to live and work. The country has a vibrant economy in a very stable political setting with excellent infrastructure and modern services available across the island. It is no wonder that some of the wealthiest families in the world have built elegant mansions on the islands shores, while famous movie stars rent luxury villas and international business companies have discovered the benefits of establishing operations in Barbados.

With a year-round warm climate, social and political stability and friendly people, Barbados is the preferred Caribbean island in which to purchase that retirement house, luxury condominium or holiday villa. Barbados property investments have returned a consistent 8 - 10% per year for the last twenty years. Now the latest evolution of the Barbados property development is the expansion of Luxury Condominiums and luxury villas, with new projects being developed on both the west and south coast of the island.

Barbados Real Estate - The Preferred Locations

The most popular locations are still the beach front properties on the West and the South coast, where you can find splendid luxury villas and Luxury Condominiums. Other attractive areas of development include the Golf courses such as Sandy Lane Country Club, Royal Westmoreland, Barbados Golf Club and the newest luxury properties, which are now available at Apes Hill Golf and Country Club.

Fabulous luxury villas are also available at the Port St. Charles Marina near Speightstown on the north-west coast of the island. The success of this development has created demand for additional marina property development and a new project has been started just north of Port St. Charles. This new project will be significant to the continued development of Barbados luxury real estate in the next two years. In a future article we will provide updates on this project.

The south coast has become more attractive for Barbados luxury developments due to the lack of beach front land on the west coast. Two new Barbados Luxury Condominium projects have recently been completed on the south coast and several more are planned. In another article we will provide more information on these Barbados south coast developments.

A Guide To Buying A Luxury Condominium

Are you looking to invest in a Barbados Luxury Property? There are several options available and several local companies to guide you through the process. Some basic guidelines for Non-Barbadian buyers of Barbados real estate:

  1. Land and property can be purchased without restrictions to non-nationals.
  2. A non-Barbadian buyer must first get permission from the Central Bank of Barbados. This step makes it easier to get permission, when you need to repatriate you funds after selling.
  3. Vendors are liable for the property transfer tax (check rates with Real Estate Agent) of the purchase price.
  4. Some financing is available for non-Barbadians through local banks, however various regulations apply.
  5. If you choose to bring the entire amount of the purchase price into Barbados this amount must be registered with the Central Bank of Barbados.
  6. It is advisable to employ the services of an attorney-at-law and a reputable real estate agent to handle these transactions. Legal fees are approximately 2% of the purchase price.

Florida vacation rentals are generally handled by brokers who are members of the local Association of Realtors. Vacation rental brokers take up this membership for various reasons. First and foremost it adds some amount of credibility to their profiles. Secondly they are assured of continuous enquiries though the association. Tourists who book vacation rentals beforehand prefer to contact legitimate associations rather than individual brokers.

These associations make their presence felt in key areas by advertising themselves. Such costs are shared by all the members and the ensuing business is also shared out equally.

Florida vacation rental brokers enter into agreements with property owners regarding rental rates and commissions when occupants are sourced through them. While contacting tourists these brokers often have photographs of different properties to show. The photographs and information about rates and other details helps them decide about the kind of accommodation to opt for. Once satisfied they make bookings much ahead of the actual vacation time. This is because Florida is a very popular tourist destination and all vacation rentals get taken up very fast.

Once bookings are confirmed, vacation rental brokers provide tourists with guide maps and instructions about how to reach the property.

Some vacation rental brokers assure tourists of last minute low priced lodgings. Such catchy phrases often bring them a sufficient stream of business. However, it should be remembered that nothing worth the price ever comes cheap. So if rentals are available at lesser than market rates, it is worth knowing the reason. The only acceptable reasons should be group bookings and off season. One should also look for hidden costs when low rates are quoted.

It is important to ensure that the broker or brokerage firm that you are dealing with is licensed. Licensed brokerage firms usually have a large database of homes, condos, townhouses, apartments and villas for tourists to choose from. Both furnished and unfurnished vacation rentals can be availed at Florida. Tastes, preferences and budget dictates play a major part in the choice of a suitable vacation rental. Efficient Florida vacation rental brokers should be able to provide a wide range of choice for tourists to choose from.

Your days will be filled with fun in the sun and a huge amount of relaxation time. There are many different activities to take part in while taking in a one of the Caribbean cruises as this will be the vacation of your dreams. You will have opportunities for forge new friendships and could possibly end up taking part in a romantic adventure while on board. Your real life will seem like a distant memory and you will be caught up in the excitement that is ahead of you. All you need to do to prepare is pack that super cute bathing suit or those striking swimming trunks and your packing will be done but there are some tips that you should follow to get the best out of your Caribbean cruise vacation.

You should decide which Caribbean Cruise line you want to take the trip with and you should make this decision far before you have the time off for the vacation.

It can be rather difficult to book a Caribbean cruise, especially if you are aiming for a cruise around a holiday time. If you go with the early booking options that are available you will find that you are assured a spot on the ship that you prefer and you may even get the total package cost reduced with discounts.

Take some time to consider what you would like to do on your vacation cruise. If diving is a passion for you or if you just want to spend time shopping at the stores on the cruise then you need to make sure that your choice of Caribbean cruises takes you to the locations that you are looking forward to visiting.

You should also have a good idea about how many days you have available to spend in the cruise. Many of the Caribbean cruises are from the minimum of three nights all the way to a long cruise of 10 nights. Consider that if you extend your vacation time to a longer cruise you will have the ability to visit more places along the way. The longest trips typically will take you to places in Mexico and even in central and South America. You must decide how much your budget can take because the prices differ depending on the length of the cruise.

Pick a time of the year that you would love to be on the cruise and in the ocean. You can find Caribbean cruises at most any time of the year and most people tend to enjoy a cruise more if they are leaving cold weather behind them. The cruises that run in the summer months are typically much lower in price and there are usually great bargains to be found on a cruise to the Bermuda area.

As you set out on your cruise be sure that you have the proper documentation such as your passport and any other documents necessary for travel. You should also speak with your insurance agent to ensure coverage should you get sick while on the boat.

The shorter of the Caribbean cruises will take you to the Bahamas and possibly Key West, Florida. If you go with a full week cruise then you will have choices of Western, Southern and Eastern Caribbean areas.

Make arrangements that include all aspects of the trip ahead of time. This should include your hotel and food at restaurants and you will not have the headache of trying to plan these things while on board on your dream vacation.

The travel agents that know a lot about Caribbean cruises are great resources for information about the cruise and your needs prior to leaving as well as for recommendations about what to do while you are on the cruise.

Anyone who travels alone on their cruise may wish to have a private cabin. This can be arranged in most cases if you speak to the cruise line and make the request. Be prepared to pay a much higher fee for the personal cabin as the prices may be from ten to one hundred percent higher per person.

The Caribbean cruises are a great form of vacation and you may want to take your family along with you. If you bring along your friends and family it will surely only enhance the greatness of the vacation.

Are you looking to escape the cold winter weather? Taking a vacation might be the perfect way to do just that. Instead of choosing a destination for skiing or a location near your home, check out these hot vacation spots that should get your mind off the snow and ice back home:

Hawaii

If you want to stay in the United States, Hawaii is an excellent option to consider and many travel packages are available. Hawaii has beautiful warm weather throughout the entire year and you do not need a passport to get there. Some of the most popular destinations within Hawaii include Maui, Oahu, The Big Island, Haleakala, and Waikiki Beach. All of these can be great for everything from a family vacation to a romantic honeymoon or a party-filled spring break trip with your friends. While there, you can explore the volcanoes, enjoy the pristine beaches, and attend late-night luaus.

Bali

For a fun cultural experience in a warm climate, consider a vacation to Bali, an Indonesian island located between Java and Lombok. Bali is famous for its art, music and dance, many of which tie into the Hindu religious epics. For a unique experience, visit Bali during the Hindu New Year in the spring. They celebrate with a day of silence, where you are encouraged to stay in your hotel. The day before has many activities available such as parades all over the island. These include spectacular, brightly colored sculptures that are burned to drive away evil spirits.

The Bahamas

The islands of the Bahamas are technically not in the Caribbean, but they are not far from Florida and still have that tropical Caribbean feel. There are over 700 islands in this chain, which you can explore via boat tours. This island nation was once a part of Great Britain, and you can still see and feel the British influence there today.

St. Lucia

One of the most natural scenic locations in the Caribbean is St. Lucia. This island is known for its rainforest, complete with a zip line through the canopy and a volcano that is also a road. During July, you can attend Carnival, complete with parades, costumes, and parties. At one time, the waters around St Lucia were filled with pirates, and there are still sunken ships to explore while diving, coves with pirate themes, and historic shipping locations that you can visit to learn more about pirates in this area.

Bermuda

Like the Bahamas, Bermuda is technically not a part of the Caribbean Islands, but it is often lumped in with them because it has similarly warm, sunny weather. Located off the coast of the Carolinas, this site is a bit colder in the winter, but because of that, it is also a more affordable in the off-season. Bermuda is known for its scuba diving and snorkeling, and while there, pick up a Heritage Passport, which gives you access to all of the island chain's cultural sites.

Mexico

Cancun and Cabo are just two of the popular vacation destinations in Mexico. Most people equate Mexico with Tijuana and other sites around the border, but locations on the Yucatan Peninsula are actually high-class resort areas with Caribbean weather. In Mexico, you can also explore Mayan ruins, and if you travel farther inland, away from the Caribbean coast or golf, you can find other cultural sites to visit as well.

Tahiti

Located in the South Pacific Ocean, Tahiti is an often-overlooked vacation destination. This French Polynesian island chain has beautiful black sand beaches, and while there, you can visit a number of different islands, including Bora Bora, Moorea, and Taha'a. While staying in Tahiti, you can choose an over-water bungalow room instead of a traditional hotel room for a unique experience. Other popular things to do while in Tahiti include snorkeling, shark feeding, touring a pearl farm, and spending the day at one of Tahiti's world-renowned spas.

Buenos Aires

If you love the nightlife, the warm weather of Buenos Aires might be perfect for you. This tourist destination is the capital of Argentina. Here, you can see a tango show, shop at the Antique Fairs in Dorrego Square, or go to one of the many music festivals that takes place throughout the year. Of course, for the most fun tourist experience in this location, visit Buenos Aires during Carnival.

If you do not want to leave the United States, visiting one of the southern states is a great option (beside Hawaii) that you can choose for a warm and sunny vacation. Some of the most popular destinations include Orlando, Phoenix, and Los Angeles. If you have the winter blues, plan a trip to a sunny location and leave the ice, snow, and cold weather behind.

What islands in the Caribbean are owned and under British rule?

Obviously there are the Virgin Island, but what the other ones?

"owned" is a strong term. British Overseas have quite a bit of autonomy... They have way more autonomy than like U.S. territories for example. E.g. British people can't just move to British Overseas territories unless they deal get approval from the immigration authorities in those territories. That isn't the case for Americans with U.S. territories. British Overseas territories tend to have a choice on their own native currency too, they all aren't forced to accept the British pound as native currency. They are allowed to have their own stock markets and their own currency boards too.

But if you want to go by which territories are represented by the British Government for foreign affairs and national military defence that would be Anguilla, Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, Montserrat, Turks and Caicos Islands. (NOTE-- Turks and Caicos are "West Indies" since they don't touch Caribbean Sea)

If you are going to take the time and effort to book a cheap cruise in order to save money, you should also be certain that you are being cost effective in you pre-trip preparations. Here are several tips for keeping your costs down as you prepare for your cruise.

Go with what you've got.

Your summer clothes from last season are fine for your cheap cruise. You're going to relax, not to participate in an on-deck fashion show. Don't go blow all your money before the trip on new swimwear and shorts. Your old Hawaii shirts and last summer's swim trunks will serve you just fine.

The same goes for your luggage. Nobody is going to be impressed if you come on board with brand new leather travel bags. You're going to be on a ship so stuffing everything into an old gym bag is perfect. In fact, it will make you look like a real "old-salt" to others on board.

Hide your plastic and bring cash.

While you should probably bring your credit card with you on your cruise, consider it for emergency use only. For spending money, set a budget ahead of time for things like souvenirs and put this amount aside in cash or traveller's checks for your cruise. This will keep you from over-spending and help you avoid the "charge it" syndrome once you are on board.

Stock up on film before you leave.

Of course, no cruise would be complete without taking tons of pictures of your trip to share with friends and relatives upon your return. Film prices on the cruise ship are notoriously expensive though. Stocking up on cheap rolls of film from your local discount store will save you a bunch of money.

You've taken the time to book a cheap cruise - now use the tips above to continue saving money before you leave. Being frugal during your travel preparations will leave you with more money to spend during your vacation. Enjoy your cruise!

Need some info about Mexican Riviera cruise?

I'll be cruising Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, & Mazatlan with Royal Caribbean's Vison of the Seas.

1) What are the best places to visit in Puerto Vallarta? I've seen many pictures online, and the beaches don't impress me much.

2) What about Mazatlan? Pictures don't look too appealing.

3) Cabo is the only city out of the 3 that had decent pictures worth looking at. Very exotic looking. Almost like the Caribbean. Is that an accurate assumption?

4) What kind of ship activities does the Vision have? I've sailed on the Freedom of the Seas, and the Vision is a much smaller ship. We'll be at sea for FOUR days, what can I do to fight boredom?

5) What are the cabins like compared to RC's other ships? And is the same type of food served/offered?

Thanks for you help :)

Hello :) I went to these ports last March, but I was on the Carnival Pride. One of my best friends, though, went on the Vision of the Seas in October and loved it.

1) All we did was take a taxi (WHITE not yellow) into like the main area I guess, only a few minutes away. There we did some walking around (this was a big, boring, waste of time) and then got back on the ship for lunch. We changed into our swim suits, and although we were supposed to get in a taxi again, and go to the beach in the main area, we decided not to. We just walked over some boulders at the end of a fence on the beach. It was a hotel's private beach, but there were some other cruise people there. And for the beaches...if you have been spoiled with the beaches of the Caribbean your entire life, the PV beach will seem like crap. If you have been tortured by the seaweed covered San Diego beaches, PV beaches will seem amazing. Oh yes, there is also a small cantina right outside the ship that was really really cheap and a good time. My friend did the zip line (canopy tour or adventure) and had a great time with that. I would recommend this or just going to the beach.

2) Mazatlan is... pretty much a dump. Just think of it as a cultural enrichment experience. You have to take the open air taxi to get to the beach here, because the cruise port is in an extremely industrial area. From the taxi, you will see the REAL Mexico. This is what Mexico is actually like. The beach was alright, about the same quality as Puerto Vallarta, aside from the dead blowfish that had washed up on the beach...

3) Cabo was my favorite, of course. I would suggest just going to the beach here. It is beautiful. The water is the most amazing color, but it can be quite cold. That is the difference between the Atlantic Ocean (Caribbean, East U.S. coast) and Pacific Ocean (Mexican Riviera, California coast, Hawaii)--Atlantic=warm. Pacific=cold. Also, when you are leaving Cabo, you will want to get up on the lido deck as the ship is leaving. You can get the most beautiful pictures of the famous arch from here. However, if you get back on when the ship is scheduled to leave, don't hold your breath waiting to take your arch pictures. The ship isn't leaving for at least an hour and a half because of those slow tenders. Awful. My only complaint about Cabo.

4) I haven't been on the Vision... and my friend isn't the type to go tell everyone everything about her vacations :( . On sea days I guess I just sort of hung out on the lido deck and shopped on board, etc. I don't find it boring. I have seen the Freedom of the Seas with Samantha Brown episode on the travel channel, and the Vision probably won't seem completely lame, but it won't be quite as exciting. I know there is definitely rock climbing, but there is no Flo Rider.

5) I cannot compare... I have only been on RC Grandeur of the Seas, and I enjoyed that. My guess is it is the same type of food if you have recently went on the Freedom. If it has been a couple years, then it has probably changed (which usually means improved).

I can also advise you to ignore the time share salesmen. They are like sharks... and they are everywhere! Also, if you want to buy things from beach vendors, you need to know the meaning of a certain word: barter! They will go a little lower on the price if you have some Spanish skills (like me). Try to keep a positive outlook on the cruise you are going on. You seem to have a negative attitude towards it, and I am sort of wondering why you booked it. Have fun!

caribbean villas and resorts st. john

St. John, part of the cluster known as the U.S. Virgin islands is well known for its beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. The island has a relatively small population of just under five thousand of the most friendliest people.

Cruz Bay, accessible by a quick twenty minute ferry ride from St.Thomas is where you will find the majority of the islands bars, restaurants and resorts. You'll find Coral Bay, on the east side where there will be plenty of unique establishments, villas and beautiful views of the neighboring Totola of the British Virgin Islands.

Travelers enjoy the U.S. VI for it's villas rentals, which provide privacy and an "at home" feel that you won't find when you stay at larger resorts and hotels. You may even be familiar with Into the Mystic which was featured on HGTV's House Hunters International. Into the Mystic, located in the hills above Coral Bay is a spectacular villa suitable for two couples or a family of four. The out of season rates are relatively reasonable, particularly if you are traveling with a group. There is also Caneel Bay, designed by Laurance Rockefeller - which sites on just under two hundred acres of land and known for its low rise cottages. Finally, when it comes to renting a villa on St.John's island - the Wimco group is pretty much known as the "go to" source for all your needs. Between these three suggestions - you are guaranteed to find something that fits your budget and personal expectations.

There are no shortages of great restaurants and bistros on the island. La Plancha Del Mar, established in the early part of 2009. They are popular for their Mediterranean and Caribbean style foods as well as ample parking, which is truly a rare find on the island! Another new eatery on the island is St. John Waterfront Bistro, which overlooks the Cruz Bay wharf. The Caribbean French blend menu is very popular with diners. The entrees at La Plancha del Mar start at an affordable $24 and $29 at St John Waterfront Bistro.

If you are planning a getaway this year, do not deny yourself the opportunity to get to know St. John of the U.S. Virgin Islands. This destination offers the best in food, fun and play - coupled with the privacy of it's villas. St. John is the perfect getaway for Generation Y.

Planning a family beach vacation? Looking for destinations with family resorts that have fun sports and activities for the whole family, all inclusive resorts where meals are included and kid clubs? Here are some of the most popular beach destinations for families to unwind and relax:

Mexico

Mexico, especially the Cancun area, and Mayan Riviera, an hour's drive south of Cancun, is a popular place for family beach vacations. The Mayan Riviera is one of the regions of Mexico - and the world- which offers the richest variety of landscapes and archaeological treasures including Mayan ruins, coral reef, snorkelling lagoons, and eco-theme parks such as Xcaret. Hotels, resorts, restaurants, and attractions throughout Mexico welcome families with open arms.

Jamaica

Jamaica is considered by many to be the most beautiful of all the Caribbean Islands and is one of the top family-vacation destinations in the Caribbean. Many of Jamaica's resorts offer supervised children's activities, babysitters, family discounts, and kid's meals. Jamaica has an abundance of top all-inclusive chains including: Sandals Beaches, SuperClubs Breezes resorts and Club Med. There are also many other family vacation options such as the Franklyn D. Resort in Runaway Bay, Jamaica, where families have their own vacation nanny during their stay.

Turks and Caicos

On a 12-mile stretch of satiny white-sand, Beaches Turks & Caicos is one of the premier family resorts on the island. With separate programs for infants, toddlers and teens, each is designed to give each age the activities they love. So when you're off doing your thing, they're off doing theirs. There are many other resorts to stay at this idyllic family beach destination

Bahamas

Home to the Atlantis Bahamas resort and many other excellent family resorts, there will not be a dull moment on your Bahamas family vacation. Blessed with the perfect location-less than 100 miles off the coast of Florida, the perfect climate- averaging a little over 75 degrees, and the perfect surroundings-crystal clear turquoise blue waters and pearly white beaches, the Islands of the Bahamas is the perfect destination for your next family beach vacation.

Hawaii

A Family Hawaii Vacation has it all. Beautiful beaches, world-class golf, surfing, shopping, swimming, top notch hotels, condominiums, eco tours, national parks, warm weather, and cool ocean breezes. The four islands that are popular for a family Hawaii Vacation are Oahu, Maui, the Big Island and Kauai.

Florida

Florida is a popular family beach destination because the climate is warm year round, it is easy to get to, it offers good value for your money, there are endless options for sightseeing and attractions for you family depending on what area you are in, and the beaches in Florida are numerous. In addition to beach destinations and of course Walt Disney World, there are tons of other family outings including Universal Studios, Sea World, Bush Gardens and many more.

Don't Forget Family Cruises

This is a very popular family vacation option and my personal favorite. Cruises with kids offer great value, choice and freedom! There are a lot of misconceptions about cruising such as it is only for older people and not suited for families, it is too rigid, there is nothing to do, you'll feel trapped, you'll get seasick, it's too expensive! All is these statements are false and could not be further from the truth. Bring your kids along on almost any cruise and they'll have the time of their lives.
