Florida is the most famous for it beautiful sun soaked white sand beaches with the clear blue water of the sea touching the shore rhythmically. Irrespective of the age group you belong to, the work you do, your likes and dislikes, you cannot help but get enchanted by the scenic beauty of Florida. At a place like this what can be more enchanting than a spacious and tastefully decorated room with a patio or verandah overlooking the beach.

The entire tourism industry of Florida thrives on the presence of the beaches here. Therefore, it is no surprise that the entire beach line is dotted with a number of hotels, resorts and motels. You will find tourist accommodations that will suit all sizes of holiday budgets. Yet, the majority of the accommodations are expensive and thus, extremely luxurious.

A number of these hotels can accommodate even those tourists who are visiting on less than extravagant budget. These hotels offer you the beautiful gardens from where you can soak in the breathtaking view of the sea and the powdery white beaches. You can also rent cottages which are fully furnished and at times they also provide you with the luxury of a Jacuzzi and/ or a swimming pool. A number of hotels provide you with bicycles so that you can pedal your way through the beautiful places in this idyllic setting.

Some of the hotels are strategically designed with large windows so that the guests are not left bereft of any chance to soak in the exhilarating beauty of Florida even while they are within the premises of the hotel. These hotels are more often than not surrounded by small establishments which offer exquisite Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, Lebanese, Caribbean and Indian delicacies. The fact that the beach is a few steps away from your hotel room makes your stay very refreshing and relaxing indeed.

caribbean vacation packages under 500

While cruising, you will be offered the opportunity to book for a future trip. Should you take advantage of the offer? Yes! Many clients are hesitant to book for several reasons.

First they are concerned that their travel agent will not be able to assist them with the reservation. Secondly many clients don't know where they want to go next, or what date they wish to travel. Last but not least, client worry that prices will drop in the future and they will  be stuck at the price they booked onboard.

I wanted to take a moment and address each one of these concerns separately.

The cruise line has in their computer system your travel agent of record. Just let them know you will be using the same agent, and the agency will receive a confirmation via fax or email while you are still on your cruise.

Not sure what ship, itinerary or date you want to go on next?  That's okay. The cruise line will hold the $100 per person deposit until you are ready to apply it to a booking and if you change your mind, the money is refundable.

Cruise fares do change frequently, but the best way to look at it, is that you are locking in at the lowest prices at that time. Should the cruise fare drop, your rate will be adjusted, but should the prices go up, you are secure in knowing that your lower rate is protected.

So let me review the benefits of booking onboard. You only have to give a deposit of $100 per person, versus the regular deposit amount of up to $500 pp. You receive a shipboard credit on your future cruise. Shipboard credits will vary based on the length of your next cruise and the type of cabin you book, but range, on average from $25 to $100 per person.

Clearly there are no drawbacks, as I mentioned earlier, you can always change your mind. So next time you are onboard a cruise, take advantage of the reduced deposit and onboard credit offers by booking with a future cruise consultant.

Apparently, it's time to turn the page on the original Seven Wonders of the World ...

Since only one of them is left standing, and since most people can't remember what the rest of them are, anyway, this is a good idea for someone who has too much time on their hands and the ability to raise money.

In this instance, that would narrow the candidates down to one Bernard Weber. He's a Swiss idealist who is behind the New 7 Wonders Foundation, which he founded in 2000.

Weber's motivation is simply to call attention to the marvels made possible when mankind applies positive energy. In fact, should his foundation actually generate profits, he intends to use at least a portion of them to rebuild lost marvels. Specifically, he cites the Bamiyan Buddha statue, a cultural masterpiece which dated to the Fifth Century AD and was senselessly destroyed as a blasphemous icon by the Taliban when their stilted act tyrannized Afghanistan.

The original Seven Wonders were so anointed by an ancient geek, Philon of Byzantium, and an ancient Greek, Antipater of Sidon. Those were the days before travel agents and tour guides, so perhaps each felt a need to fill the void. Whatever their inspiration, they were not the first to get the idea.

The concept of such a list was first mentioned by Herodotus in his seminal 'The History' in the Fifth Century BC. Later, around the Third Century BC, Callimachus of Cyrene, the top logster at the legendary Museum of Alexandria in ancient Egypt, wrote "A Collection of Wonders around the World." These lists varied in content, but Philon's prevailed, due in part to its mention in engravings by the Dutch artist Maerten van Heemskerck (1498-1574) and Johann Fischer von Erlach's 'History of Architecture.'

Here are Philon's seven wonders:

1. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, although some historians believe they were an ancient urban legend and never really existed;

2. The Statue of Zeus, which honored the first Olympic games, was later moved to Constantinople and ultimately destroyed by fire;

3. The Temple of Diana at Ephesus, the largest known building in ancient times which took a century to build and was subsequently senselessly destroyed as a blasphemous icon by Christians when their intolerance tyrannized southern Turkey;

4. The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, which stood for 1500 years until the Maltese Knights of St John used its stones to build their own mega-castle nearby;

5. The Colossus of Rhodes, which towered 120 feet high at the city's harbor entrance until it was destroyed in an earthquake, and which later served as the inspiration for French sculptor Auguste Bartholdi when he created the Statue of Liberty as a gift to the USA;

6. The Lighthouse of Alexandria in Egypt, whose beacon had a range of 100 miles and which stood for 1500 years before falling victim to an earthquake in the 1300s; and

7. The Pyramids of Egypt, the lone wonder still standing.

Once Weber confirmed there was no official Seven Wonders of the World being sanctioned by any recognized bodies, he established a website, gathered an impressive list of professionals --- architects, engineers and the like --- and began the process of nominating structures worldwide as potential Wonders. During the subsequent years, visitors to his site answered his call to vote and the nominees were pared to 77.

Recently, these were winnowed to 21 --- another multiple of seven, if you hadn't noticed --- with the voting set to continue throughout 2006. The new Seven Wonders will then be announced on New Year's Day, 2007.

I've gone to Weber's site, perused the finalists and did my cyber-duty by voting. All are truly worthy choices, but I didn't find it difficult at all to quickly make my decisions:

- The Great Wall of China, where the term 'breathtaking' is an understatement;

- The Easter Island Statues, also known as Stone Clones Gone Wild;

- Petra in Jordan, for its mixture of intricacy and magnitude in its status as the world's most spectacular city carved out of sandstone;

- Stonehenge, a Druidic version of the ultimate perpetual calendar with a timeless design;

- Neuschwanstein Castle in Füssen, Germany, because that's the way castles are supposed to look;

- The Taj Mahal at Agra, India, because Richard Halliburton said so in one of my favorite childhood tomes, 'The Book of Marvels,' and his vivid description therein sold me on it forever; and

- The Hagia Sophia cathedral at Istanbul, because I think at least one Wonder should contain Viking graffiti, and Halfdan did the honors --- which are still prominently visible --- during his stint with Byzantium's Varangian Guard.

One interesting twist to Weber's foundation is that its home is cited as the Heidi Weber Museum in Zurich, which also happens to be a landmark structure designed by the Swiss architect and visual artist Charles Edouard Jeanneret, who became famous under his nom-d'art of Le Corbusier. This building was commissioned by Mrs Weber, to be named after its designer and to house various artworks created by him. It was completed and opened to the public in 1962. However, disputes arose between the two parties, and when Le Corbusier died, the entity which survived him took up the case against the Webers. Among other things, this resulted in a re-christening of the building to its current title and legal squabbling over everything from exclusivity for artwork sales rights to website domain names.

The Heidi Weber Museum is rarely open these days. The irony of its creative legacy and legal history compared to the mission statement of Bernard Weber's New 7 Foundation is rich. Clearly, universal harmony in the recognition and preservation of famous structures is easier said than done.

Although Royal Caribbean is often considered to be a strictly Caribbean cruise line, this is definitely not the case. Royal Caribbean offers far more destinations of travel than simply the islands of the Caribbean and Alaska is included within this list. For anyone looking to breathe fresh air, stare out at endless mountains and watch wildlife survive and thrive within their own environment, there is no better destination than Alaska.

On the Royal Caribbean website you will find everything you need to help you prepare for your Alaskan cruise. You can find detailed information and deck plans of their two ships that currently cruise to and from Alaska, Radiance of the Seas and Rhapsody of the Seas. Both are approximately the same size, holding a maximum of about 2,500 passengers, but each offers different amenities. It is worth spending some time examining what each ship offers in order to make an informed choice.

What to pack is one of the most common questions associated with an Alaskan cruise and Royal Caribbean has answered this for you. They recommend casual wear for during the day and on excursions but this casual wear needs to be warm. Although you are traveling during the spring months of the year, in Alaska it will feel like a brisk winter day. Be sure to include warm sweaters, jackets and thick socks to keep you warm and comfortable enough to enjoy the sites.

The most popular city of interest for a Royal Caribbean Alaska cruise is the city of Juneau. It is often said that Juneau is one of the most majestic and scenic cities within America today and this is all that needs to be said to spark the interest of travelers. The other highlight of this Alaska cruise is the Hubbard Glacier which is one of the most active glaciers in the world. It is a 1,350-foot Alaskan natural wonder that is both breathtaking as it is incomparable.

If you are looking for a bit more adventure within your Royal Caribbean Alaska cruise, there is plenty to choose from. Just outside of Juneau is one of the most popular shore excursion adventures Royal Caribbean offers. Here you can actually hike through glacier waterfalls and rain forests and enjoy scenery that can be seen nowhere else in the world. If you are looking for more you also have the option to take a helicopter ride above the ice fields of Juneau and see what only the birds have the privilege to view.

During the warmer months of the year, you can engage in a high speed catamaran ride to see wildlife in their natural habitat. This can be done preferably during July and August for best weather. The Royal Caribbean also offers 19 different cruise tours which is a combination of your cruise passage and an expert guided land tour of Alaska. These combine what many people are searching for within their cruise experience and can be viewed on the Royal Caribbean website to find the exact combination you are looking for.

Plan, research and book your entire Alaska cruise through the Royal Caribbean website. They tell you how to choose the right duration, the right departure city and of course the proper room accommodations. There is little they do not allow you to choose yourself and even less they do not assist you with through this process. Although it does take time to organize an Alaska cruise, it is almost as much fun planning it as being there.

Cruise line tickets!!?

I was actually wondering if anyone knows where to get any cheap "Carnival" Cruise line tickets. leaving from florida, and going to the caribbeans for about 5-6 days. So i was just wondering, if anyone knows any cheap sites.

My prefered site is vacationstogo.com
and iwannacruise.com

If you can go quickly and a ship is not sold out - you can get "last minute" deals very inexpensive.

Just an additional note on the vacations to go site .... you have to register - BUT you won't get hit with spam from them.

Have fun!

Before there was the gospel according to John, Paul, George and Ringo, a guy named Pete Best used to play the drums for the Beatles. In the beginning, it was John, Paul, George and Pete.

Randolph Peter Best, or Pete Best, joined the Beatles in 1962. The Beatles, with Best on the drums, went to Hamburg, Germany and made the British flag proud. As Beatles fans know, the Beatles got quite popular in Hamburg first before making it big in Great Britain and then the rest of the world. It was said that Pete Best was the most popular band member among women when they were still playing in Hamburg.

When they got back to England, they started auditioning for record deals. They played for several record companies. They had their share of refusals. Finally, the Beatles auditioned for Parlophone, and the record company liked what they heard. The record company gave them a contract and asked them to cut some records.

When the record producer, George Martin, heard the songs recorded by the Beatles, he decided to use a session drummer for the recording sessions. He didn't like the way Pete Best's drum sounded on the records. George Martin, according to later interviews, said that he only meant to use a session drummer for the recording session. The group could still have Pete Best as their drummer.

On August 16, 1962, Pete Best was fired from the Beatles almost two years from the day he joined the group to play a series of gigs in Germany.

Today, Pete Best is still playing music. He has migrated to the US and has a group called The Pete Best Band. The band has several albums and singles under its belt. In concerts, they would often play songs by the Beatles aside from their original ones.

Any suggestions for a three or four day getaway to one of the lower Caribbean islands?

I'm looking for somewhere in the lower Caribbean, like from Martinique south.

I'd go with Barbados. Plenty of nightlife any day of the week, the island is small enough where you can see most of it in just a couple days. The island's weather is also nice most of the year with little problems even during hurricane season. July & August is Cropover time which is their carnival season. Plenty of parties and cultural events. Beautiful beaches, party boats & tours visiting the Mount Gay & Malibu Rum distilleries are just a few things to do. You can go ATV riding, spend the day at the beach doing watersports, or just relax. There are a lot of nice restaurants around the island. If I were you, I'd stay in the South areas since it's more central.

Look at hotels or apartments in the St. Lawrence Gap (unless music bothers you at night since it's the hub of nightlife down there), Worthing and Rockley are all close enough to do a lot by foot (grocery shopping, banks, restaurants, plenty of small hotels & apts on the beach). If you stay on the West Coast, there are nice beaches as well, though you may want to rent a car if you want to get around(or you can rely on the island's public transportation). You can also hire a taxi, though this can get costly depending on where you want to go.

St. Lucia & St. Vincent are also nice places. St. Lucia has a nice Friday night party in Gros Ilet every week. July is Carnival season, so there is plenty of cultural events going on throughout the island. St. Vincent has the main island as well as the Grenadines that you can tour. Check out the beaches in Bequia(also great for scuba diving) and Mustique (beautiful serene beaches, but rather expensive to stay at). Good luck:)

Probably the most beautiful country in the world. There is nothing you can compare to it, and that happens because nowhere in the world you can find such a small place with so many different natural things to see. And as the new tourism promo says: "Welcome to the youngest country in the world".

All lands were already discovered before any human ever set foot in New Zealand. At same time, the geography of the country as we see it nowadays was pretty different not a long time ago. Separating first from the the Antarctica and Australia, when they were forming a single continent, New Zealand went sailing alone and during one period, it was nearly disappeared under the water.

Eventually, tectonic movements made the land gain altitude again to end with the image that maps offer today. Placed in the middle of a zone with tectonic movement, the North island is actually being pushed in one direction and the South Island in the other. All this underground activity has had a strong power in creating a long range of volcanoes on the North Island, and a huge mountain range at the south, the Southern Alps, with the ceiling at about 3800m.

That dramatic continuous modification of the surface caused that New Zealand today is such a varied country, where we can find from massive volcanoes to long white sand beaches, blue lakes, sub-tropical forests and huge snowed mountains.

Something that makes a difference from other countries is the conditions in which animal life had the evolution. No predators where found ever in the island, so birds became losing the need to fly. And the effect was so tremendous that they even ended losing their wings! One clear example is the kiwi, the national bird. Don't be mistaken. It really has wings, but to see them you need to catch the animal and try to find them. So little cute useless wings has the shy kiwi!

Together with the kiwi, a great animal, possibly the biggest in the world as it used to reach more than 2 meters high, was another wingless bird called Moa. Unfortunately for them, when the Maori people came from the islands and arrived to New Zealand, they became the first predator in this lands. And absolute massacre happened and the Moas were extincted. The amount of meat for the hungry Maoris was a too strong temptation.

On the other hands, the Maoris learned the lesson and became to fall in love with their lands, with animals and nature and everything living that was around. Everybody places gods in different places. We Christians close them in churches, but they learned to place their gods in nature, and they learned to respect it and live together in harmony.

The situation could have not been worst then when the English discovered this lands. The arrival was not violent, but the aim of the conquerors to transform the wild nature in something that could seem like home make an absolute disaster to the natural environment. Also, with their boats they brought many kind of animals that were not present before, rats, sheep, and many more, as well as new species of plants.

The effect was devastating and nearly a 70% of the forests were destroyed. The aim of the retired soldiers to transform the environment in somewhere they could live in reached points that still today are present there, like the Bridge to Nowhere. Literally, they created a bridge to cross to some lands they wanted to cultivate, but the power of nature conquering their lands was so strong that they had to go back. Nowadays this bridge crosses above a river, and once you are on the other side, you find yourself in the middle of nowhere. Nature has gained back its property!

Fortunately for the country, and thanks in part to the experience and influence of the Maori people, new laws were signed, massive protests against the destruction of the trees happened, and the battle began to get back to Nature territory.

Nowadays, still many things resisted all the attacks. This innocent land suffered too much, scars are visible in most places, many tears were dropped by the trees. But thanks to the strong battle that was fought there, nowadays the kiwi spirit is one of the most respectful for nature, in an aim to protect what is still there and expand it in order to bring to nature what once was stolen.

An applause for every kiwi in the world. Your spirit will succeed. Together you saved your country and kept it being the most beautiful land in the world. Keep fighting and bring that land back to its origin!

I need HELP, Like NOW!!!!!!?

1. Name two types of natural disasters that occur frequently in Latin America(South America).

2. Describe TWO ways that the Caribbean Islands formed?

3. What happens when increased air pressure causes trade winds to lessen?

I'm only asking because I forgot my Social Studies book and there is no online version of my book.

1. flood, hurricane
2. not sure...
3. During an El Niño event, the air pressure over the western Pacific rises and the air pressure over the eastern Pacific falls. The trade winds decrease in strength, or even reverse. Therefore, the warmer surface water is not moved away from South America's coast, so there is more rainfall around South America and less in the western Pacific.

Having a destination wedding can be a tremendously memorable experience. Just think about it. Rather than holding the ceremony locally at a place you've seen many times, you can travel to an exotic location to exchange your vows. You can even combine your wedding and honeymoon into one great vacation. The only real downside of a destination wedding is in relation to the guests. There are costs involved for people who will attend the wedding and, therefore, your guest list may end up being small.

Nonetheless, this downside to destination weddings can turn out to be a blessing in disguise.  Lesser guests can mean a more intimate celebration with special loved ones to share it with.  The fact that you can save on reception venues and catering is not bad, either.

Weddings are very special occasions. They are a much anticipated event in one's life and the memories are bound to be greatly treasured.  What better way to experience this momentous affair than to spend it in the most beautiful and scenic locations imaginable?

Major cruise lines sailing the seas of exotic locations such as the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Mexico are offering wedding packages to couples who are in for the experience of their lifetime. These places are nothing short of a tropical paradise that offers you romantic wedding locations of pristine white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. You can wed onboard the ship with the picturesque sunset in the background or you can choose to wed by the sun kissed beaches with powder fine white sand on your toes. The options are just limitless.

Moreover, destination weddings can save you more money compared to a traditional wedding at home.  Cruise weddings allow you to enjoy your wedding and your honeymoon at the same time. No more splitting of costs. You can spare yourself from the long and painful deliberation of choosing a perfect honeymoon over a perfect wedding or vice versa.  By wedding on a cruise, you can have both!

Cruise weddings also allow you to immediately enjoy your honeymoon without having to go through the hassle of traveling between your "I dos".  No more chances of ruining the romantic atmosphere by waiting in the airports and dealing with long lines. No more spending days and weeks trying to coordinate your travel plans to coincide with the end of the reception. Destination weddings will just allow you to enjoy the whole affair in pure romantic bliss through and through. What else can you ask for?

Should I Book my February Vacation Now or "Last Minute"?

My girlfriend and I are looking to book a trip to Jamaica in February I've currently found a couple deals that saves us a couple hundred dollars by leaving on a specific date (if we leave on a Sunday we save $200+ over leaving on a Saturday or Monday?) Do I book this vacation now? If I book the same resort for mid January I could save even more (another $200). Is this because I'm booking "Last Minute" or is this because of the season? Is January generally a slow month for Caribbean all inclusive resorts?

Any input on this would be great! Thanks in advance.

Book it now as that airfare may not be available later

caribbean islands and south america map

So, we set out to learn how to draw al the countries in the map of the world. First things first. Large masses of land on the map of the world are called continents. There are merely a handful and they are easy to reckon. We have North and South America, Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia. It is even better to subdivide into regions. So, apart from the above continents, a few distinct parts to reckon if you look closely in a map of the world would be Central America having 7 countries, the Caribbean island with 13 countries and Oceania, a region to the east of Australia comprising island countries numbering 12.

We will need to draw the continents in a simplified manner. And then we must know how many countries are there in each of the continents. For your information, the UN has recognized 193 sovereign countries on this planet and 10 more are partially recognized meaning they are almost independent.

We have 3 countries in North America, 7 in Central America, 13 countries in the Caribbeans (island countries next to Central America) and 12 in South America which takes the tally to 35 for the Americas.

Similarly, Europe has 45 countries not counting Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey which have been reckoned under Asia. Asia has 46 countries, Africa, 53 countries and Australasia, only 2 comprising Australia and New Zealand and finally Oceania with 12 island countries: altogether 193 countries populating a map of the world.

So far so good. It has been easy knowing the numbers we need to work with. But how do we proceed to draw them.

The technique is to simplify the wiggly lines that form the coastlines of the continents and that which form the borders between the countries. That makes it easy to draw. What you need to do is to draw a few lines criss crossing a continent and that ought to separate out the different countries.

Once you have the countries delineated by drawing straight lines which are easy to remember and draw, the next step is to have a mechanism to remember the exact sequence of countries. This can be done by a system aiding memory called MNEMONICS. Here what you do is take a string of say, 6 countries and by using phonetic equivalents of their names, construct a sentence which you would then proceed to memorize.

Although it sounds complicated, an example or two would convey the simplicity inherent in this method. For example let us take the Scandinavian countries: NORWAY FINLAND SWEDEN. Although many people would be able to tell that these countries form the northern part of Europe, few would be certain as to which country came after which. Whether Norway Finland Sweden is the correct sequence from left to right or not.

Here a mnemonic sentence would come to your rescue and you would never ever have doubt as to which came after which. It is "NOT SO FAST" a mnemonic for NORWAY SWEDEN FINLAND and this is the correct sequence. Remember "not so fast" and you would always be able to point these countries correctly on a map of the world.

Example 2: "MAN, THAT CAN be VIEWED LATER" would signify the string of countries: "MYANMAR THAILAND CAMBODIA VIETNAM LAOS" in South East Asia.

A similar method can be followed for reckoning any sequence of countries on this planet making it absolutely easy to remember them.

This entire process of remembering to draw all the 193 COUNTRIES ON A MAP OF THE WORLD rests on this two simple planks:

  1. STRAIGHTEN THE LINES BETWEEN THE COUNTRIES
  2. USE MNEMONICS TO REMEMBER A STRING OF COUNTRIES

and this way you can learn to draw all the countries on a map of the world.
