South America is a fantastic place for a cruise and has some of the most varied landscapes and cultures of any cruise destination world wide. Many people imagine South America to be a destination out of reach of the normal tourist. Many cruise lines travel to the far shores of South America but which destination will be your ideal South American cruise?

Alta do Chao

Alta do chao is a port in Brazil and is a lovely beach river resort. Located along the Amazon this is a must see stop for any cruise tourist. The pristine sandy white beach is almost like a Mediterranean destination. The area consists of little villages and lush tropical forests. The area is simply stunning.

Manaus

Also located in Brazil is Manaus. Manaus is the furthest navigable port on the Amazon and is the deepest you can go on a cruise line ship. It is 1000 miles from the ocean so you can imagine some of the stunning scenery you will encounter on the way there. The area is littered with monuments that the locals have constructed over the years. A fascinating destination.

Parintins

Another Brazilian destination is Parintins. On the banks of the Amazon, Parintins is located within hundreds of miles of tropical rainforest. Every year at the end of June there are huge festivals held in Parintins. It is a unique place to find some great souvenirs that can't be found anywhere else in the world. The Parintins Mountain Ridge and the Taracuera and Varre Wind beaches can be found nearby as well as the beautiful Valéria Lake.

Santarem

Brazil is a massive area and has many ports. Another Brazilian port located on the Amazon is Santarem, 500 miles up the Amazon. It is a city of over 140,000 people and has a bustling harbour. Upstream you will sale through lush rainforest where you might see monkeys and other rain forest wildlife frolicking in the trees. A truly unforgettable South American cruise.

Puntarenas

Puntarenas is the largest province in Costa Rica. It has a massively varied landscape and you will see something different at every turn. It is the largest city in the central pacific. There is plenty of old colonial Spanish architecture to admire and its beaches are some of the best in the world. The beach areas are littered with alfresco cafes and restaurants. Nearby is Manuel Antonio Park, a lush tropical rainforest to explore. Costa Rica's beaches are famous for the excellent snorkelling and fantastic forest trails.

Puerto Chiapas

A stop in Mexico may include the port of Puerto Chiapas. The area has a very rich culture and the landscape is breathtaking. Some of Mexico's finest archaeological sites can be accessed via this port. This lush area is based in the middle of a rainforest and as such some of the plants and wildlife is exotic to say the least. The colonial architecture needs to be seen to be believed.

San Juan

Puerto Rico is a charming place to visit on your South American cruise. Within walking distance of San Juan is Old San Juan. It is the most attractive part of the Puerto Rican capital and also one of the most fascinating historic areas in the whole Caribbean. The 16th century fortress El Morro is a must visit for anybody cruising into the area.

A South American cruise is a magical vacation. There is so much to see and do in South America that this article hardly makes a dent. Everyone should experience the South American cruise.

What are some cheap, good vacation spots around the US?

I live in San Diego, California. And Every year, me and my mom go on a mother daughter trip, like last year, we went to Hawaii, and Mexico the year before, and Caribbean cruise the year before that. Now we are running out of ideas on where to go, so I ask for your help. (: Our vacations aren't usually too expensive, so keep it kinda cheap, but where are some good vacation spots where it is hot, and beautiful. We love to sit on the beach and hike and stuff, we are pretty open minded, we have already seen a lot of California, but still, any suggestions just to get the wheels turning! List all and anything that comes to mind, please and thank you. (:

Why not North Carolina?

It gets hot there in the summer, hotter than on Hawaii or in San Diego.

The state is very beautiful, and it it has a variety to offer. There are great beaches along the cost, ranging from popular Wrightsville Beach near Wilmington to upscale retreats like Bald Head Island, to the more remote and pristine Outer Banks, and plenty more. The beaches are wide, have great white sand, you can swim in the Ocean all summer, etc. Other than the lack of palm trees, I can't come up with any shortcomings.

If you like to hike, you will find plenty of state parks in North Carolina as well, and regions like the Piedmont, Pinehurst etc offer beautiful scenery with rollings hills. Head out further west, you have the Black Mountains with Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi, the Blue Ridge Park way, and very nice college towns like Boone or Asheville right in there if you need some entertainment between hikes.

North Carolina is not on your typical tourist's radar, which keeps prices in check too.

An Egyptian Experience

When deciding on a honeymoon destination, one of the most crucial points to consider is the uniqueness of the experience. You want it to be a holiday you'll never forget. Venturing away from the stereotype is always a good idea, and a honeymoon in Egypt will give you the excitement of mystical cities, beautiful surroundings and unforgettable nights.

1. Camel Riding Across the Deserts

An extremely fun and exciting activity for couples on honeymoon in Egypt, is to go camel riding across the vast desert. An early start will give you time to watch the sun rising above the stretching sands, and a romantic breakfast for two will be a great start to your day. And you'll need the energy too, because you'll be crossing the desert atop a camel!

There are many different tours to choose from, where you will be led by a knowledgeable guide across the sands. Once you've mounted your camel, you'll set off into the desert in the direction of the Pyramids of Giza. A Cairo honeymoon can offer you this unique experience, which is ultimately romantic and exciting.

2. Romantic Dining in the Sky

It's not every day that you get to dine on the 42nd floor in a revolving restaurant with glass walls. This is an experience you simply can't miss when on a honeymoon in Cairo.

High above the other buildings, you have an exceptional view of the twinkling lights of this city which comes alive at night. It will certainly be an experience of luxury and fine-dining, in a particularly romantic setting. French cuisine accompanied by superb wine will certainly leave you feeling satisfied.

3. Cairo's Classical Touch

A night of classical music or dancing can be a romantic way to spend an evening on honeymoon in Egypt. The Cairo Opera House offers a grand evening out. It is a 7 story house at the Gezira Exhibition Ground, built in 1988. It was designed by a team of Japanese and Egyptian architects, and together they created a glamorous building of Islamic design.

The main theater can seat 1200 people, where operas, ballets and classical music performances are staged. This would certainly make for an enjoyable night out while on a Cairo honeymoon. Another of its theaters is open-air, and you can have a magical evening under the stars as you enjoy Arabic music and dance shows.

4. Some Serious Shopping

The market of Khan el-Khalili was built in 1382 by the Emir Djaharks el-Khalili in the heart of the Fatimad City. While you may not consider a shopping excursion to be the most romantic way to spend a day on honeymoon in Egypt, imagine the exquisite gold and silver jewelery that you could buy (or could be bought for you!).

Khan el-Khalili represents the market tradition which established Cairo as a major center of trade, and visiting the market is more about its history and tradition than a simple shopping trip.

5. A Starlit Nile Cruise

As an end to your honeymoon in Egypt, you could go for a sunset cruise down the Nile, finishing off once the sky is filled with stars. Sail down the river as you enjoy a delicious three-course dinner, and then sit back and relax while you are entertained by Folklore music and dancing.

Honeymoon! Cruise or all-inclusive resort?

Going on my honeymoon in Dec 2011 or Jan 2012. My husband wants to go on a cruise to the Caribbean(eastern) and I really want to go to an all-inclusive resort? I have asked this questions in the search box and everyone keeps saying a cruise is better for a honeymoon but why? Cruises, techincally, are not all-inclusive, you still have to pay for your drinks, excursions, and all the hidden luxuries? Why is an all-inclusive resort not a better choice? Thanks in advance.

Also I have no preference as to where the resort is it just can not be in Mexico because my husband is worried about the drug wars.
I guess my question would be, in my opinion, an all-inclusive resort has all the expenses included in the price(with the exception of a few minor things) where as the cruise has a lot of things that you still have to pay for? What are the pros and cons?

The problem with an all inclusive resort is that you will only be staying in one place so if you don't like it you are stuck with it anyway. However with a cruise you have the benefits of travelling to a number of different destinations all in one holiday. Also can you imagine if you are at a unknown resort and don't know the language the issues you might have in trying to arrange a half decent evening out. At least when you are on a cruise ship all the entertainment is included which can vary from Comedian, cabaret acts or even a circus, and if you don't like anything you always have the option to walk out to a different place without having to pay an entrance fee. Also if you are a savvy buyer you may find that you can get free holiday spending money which can be used towards paying for drinks, shore excursions or spa treatments.

Christmas on Wherever Island by Amber Polo

There are so many cruises offered that cover the Eastern, Western and Southern islands. The various liners offer everything in comfort and luxury. They provide for every mood and every want that one may wish for on board and at the various ports of call... The administration leaves nothing to chance and the traveler gets full value for the money spent.

While working out details designed for a vacation, most people take into consideration a few fundamental points such as when, where, how, for how long and most importantly, the finances involved. December to April is considered peak tourist season for the Caribbean.

It plunges to an all time low around fall and spring. September and October draw closer under hurricane season and you don't want to be caught in one! So, early November and early December is most likely the cheapest intended for tourists with budget constraints.

The where aspect of your holiday depends on what you would like to see be it historical sites or water sports. The how aspect would generally be decided by your budget and the type of liner you would choose. First time sailors might like shorter cruises and they might be able to squeeze in extra places in their schedule.

Find out details about life on board like meal times and whether you have the freedom to adjust your schedules. Some liners have set patterns. Find out the ships sailing program if site seeing is your most important agenda. Some offer so much on board it takes on a life of its own. Read your guide carefully and book your trips so you do not lose out on what really interests you. Most trips are conducted by local agencies so an early booking might be a good idea.

Your budget should cater to tipping, mini site seeing tours conducted by local agencies, overheads, additional fees if you have children, and a slight budget for emergencies. Fares can swing from $150 to upward of $1000 depending on what type of accommodation you are looking for.

Caribbean vacations are some of the most popular cruises in the world, offering sunny skies, sparkling waters, and carefree island relaxation. Better yet, there is no need to travel far to access these amazing island paradises. With many ports-of-call within a few hours drive from your home, you can start your affordable vacation nearby as you sail to incredible destinations. Selecting a cruise port within driving distance of your home is an easy way to save money when planning your dream vacation. From Fort Lauderdale to Galveston, Miami to Baltimore, and more, you can truly escape on an amazing Caribbean cruise close to you.

Caribbean cruise vacations are not only for couples, but singles have a great time also.

Caribbean cruise vacations are regarded as most exciting options available and this is the reason why a majority of Americans choose this option than other vacation packages. Because of its popularity, a lot of travel companies that are offering packages to the Caribbean have become competitive with each other and as such, are offering very competitive prices. Since different cruise lines and other travel agencies have offered competitive packages, a cruise vacation is now considered one of the most inexpensive vacation options available.

So go ahead and take pleasure in all that nature has to offer in the form of the Caribbean and come away with an experience never to be forgotten.

western caribbean - smaller ship - scuba diving - advice!?

i'm thinking about taking a 6 or 7 night cruise to the western caribbean in oct or nov. i don't want to be with 20,000 other people, families with lots of kids, etc. i mainly want to scuba dive & eat but i don't want to be on one of those very, very small boats where diving is the only thing to do. i've never been on a cruise before.

does anyone have any advice on which cruise lines would be the best for this sort of thing?

To avoid being with "20,000 other people", go on a smaller ship and check the port schedules to see how many other ships [especially the larger ones] will be in port at the same time.

To avoid "families with lots of kids", don't cruise over any school vacations [some schools that start early have vacations in October, I hear] or in the summer or at holiday time. Also, longer cruises [10 days] will have fewer families and kids, but will then also have more older passengers.

Cruise on lines that are less "family friendly", e.g. Celebrity and HAL. I say that not because these lines don't have kids programs, but they don't have all the wacky activities that kids and "party hearty" types like and they are more traditional in tone, dress and decor.

Since you've never cruised before, you really should get a book on cruising from your library or bookstore, as there are many, many variables that you would need to consider and decide upon in order to make a final decision, such as type of cabin, length of cruise, size/age of ship, itinerary, etc, etc.

You can also get great info at CruiseCritic.com. Click on "Cruise Styles" to read about the different lines/ships and the type of passengers they appeal to [e.g. "Romantic", "Family", etc]. You can click on "Reviews" to read a pro comment about each ship and also "Member Reviews" of every ship out there. When you've done enough research to not be overwhelmed by more details, you should take a look at "Boards", where you'll find discussions on any and every aspect of cruising by experienced cruisers.

Good luck - hope you find just what you're looking for.

WHAT TO SEE: Legendary beautiful scenery of Alaska- magnificent coastal fjords, rugged glaciers, vast evergreen forests, sky-high mountains, 7 of which are the tallest peaks in North America (to see Mt. McKinley, North America's tallest peak, you'll need to take a tour to the shore into the Denali National Park), abundant land and marine wildlife- moose, kodiak and grizzly bears, caribou, dall sheep, puffin, otters, seals, humpback and killer whales, dolphins, bald-headed eagles and much more. Shore excursions are optional, as well as guided tours in a cruise ship's port of call. They are offered in all Alaska ports and cities and are a great way to enrich your cruise experience with visiting coastal attractions, historical places, challenging yourself in kayaking, helicopter tours, mountain biking,...

CRUISE LENGTH: 7 days on average. There are some 11 and 14 day cruises which include more ports of call and more glacier touring. There are 2 different kinds of cruises available: Inside Passage Cruise: roundtrip departure from Vancouver/ Seattle, usually 7 days long. You cruise the inside passage through the islands offshore from British Columbia and Alaska. Stops usually include Ketchikan, Sitka, Skagway and Juneau. Gulf of Alaska Cruise (or Glacier Route Cruise): You cruise one-way northbound from Vancouver/ Seattle or one-way south from Seward, Alaska. You will see more glaciers on this route and an additional port or two.

WHEN TO GO: The usual Alaska cruise season lasts from early May to late September. Alaskan summers are cool, daytime highs in these months range from 10 to 27 degrees Celsius (50 to 80 Fahrenheit). May and June tend to be the drier months, July is the warmest one. June and July are the best months to watch Humpback and Orca whales, White-Sided dolphins. An additional bonus to an Alaskan cruise vacation is that in summer the days are much longer than they are further south. This is the land of the midnight sun. Your longest days will be in June and July (up to 20-21 hours of daylight) and will offer you many opportunities to enjoy active glaciers. Early and late season cruises (May and September) tend to be slightly cheaper and the ports of call are less crowded. You can check next week weather forecast for Anchorage here.

ALASKA CRUISE TIPS: Northern weather can be unpredictable. Consider taking with you and wearing multiple layers of clothes in response to a wide variety of temperatures and weather conditions. What to pack : waterproof and warm jacket, a sweater, light gloves, rain gear, sun glasses and a warm hat for deck strolling or touring on the shore. You also may find useful binoculars, camera, camcorder, film, batteries and walking shoes. If you need a hair dryer, pack one; not all cruise ships have hair dryers in the cabins. Bargain hunters should look for last minute deals as the last rooms are often sold at very low prices.

Pick the right cruise ship for your style,- some ships are more traditional, other more stylish, elegant, some offer more choices for children, other are more seniors-oriented. The cruise comparison chart below should help you in making the correct choice. Check your cruise itinerary, almost every ship usually includes several formal dress code nights. Dark business suit or a tuxedo would do the thing. Alaska cruises tend to be more casual than other destinatons but items such as cutoff t-shirts, halter tops and torn jeans are still not permitted in the dining area.Tipping is usually $10 per passenger per day. We recommend you to book a stateroom with a balcony. Theview on an Alaska cruise is always changing- mountains, shores, wildlife, marine animals, glaciers, or quaint waterfront communities. You can enjoy it from the privacy of your own balcony, escaping crowded decks.

We wish you a nice and safe cruising!

When you are looking for a family vacation destination, it is necessary to consider the children. A family vacation is not going to be enjoyable unless it is enjoyable for them as well. The perfect spot would have activities that appeal to all ages. There are many places that would fit this bill, but there is nothing better to keep children happy on vacation than water. The beach is a place for all ages. The little ones can play in the sand and the teenagers can seek romance while the parents soak up the sun and sip those little drinks with umbrellas. Here is my short list for the top family vacations spots, and they all have plenty of beaches available.

The top of the list has to be Florida. It is not far away and fairly easy to reach from the East coast of the United States. It has beaches up and down both sides of the state. The Orlando area has some of the top children's attractions anywhere in the world with Disney World, The Epcot Center and Universal Studios. There are an endless number of things to do and places to go in Florida, and they speak English and use American money. There is really no downside to it. The weather is almost always going to be nice, and although you can find luxury enough to suit the most extravagant taste, you can also find economy as well.

If you are thinking of leaving the country, Jamaica is the second choice. Jamaica is considered to be the most beautiful of all the Caribbean Islands. It is all very family oriented. Most of the major resorts there are very children friendly. Supervised children's activities and kid's meals are very common. Family discounts are available in many places as well. Jamaica is an island, so there are plenty of beaches here also. A few of the resorts on Jamaica even offer a "vacation nanny", so that you can get a little time also.

To add a little balance to the list, we need a west coast resort area. Many people would suggest Hawaii as the ideal place for a family vacation, and that is hard to argue with. Hawaii is also an island, and there is certainly plenty to do there. The only problem with Hawaii is that it is quite a distance away, and getting there is often a bit expensive. My choice would be Cabo San Lucas located at the very southern tip of Baja California. This resort area sits where the Bay of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean meet and it is a little bit of paradise that is within easy reach of the western states of the United States. Cabo San Lucas vacation rentals can be found to meet any taste and budget. Many celebrities including Hollywood stars maintain Cabo San Lucas condominiums for their get away vacations, but you do not have to be rich or famous to enjoy this pristine and unspoiled resort area.

How far is Universal Studios Orlando from Disney's Caribbean Resort?

Is it easy to get there with public transport or is it close enough for a taxI?

It's not far at all. I love the Caribbean Beach resort. We stay there all the time. Anyways, we've also made the trip to Universal from the CBR. We used Mears, the bus shuttle. All you do is call and make reservations for the day you want to go. They pick you up from Old Port Royale (where the food court is) and when you're ready to return, you call again and they'll tell you when the next bus back is.

Cruises to the Caribbean have long been popular since there are so many variations of ports you can stop at. While Caribbean cruises are fun in their own right, maybe it's time to try a different destination? A Bermuda cruise vacation could be just what you need to reinvigorate your enthusiasm for cruising.

Bermuda is a lovely island located in the Atlantic Ocean about 600 miles east of North Carolina. It is a territory of Great Britain so you will find yourself immersed in centuries old British architecture juxtaposed with beautiful beaches (with world-famous pink sand) and other recreation activities. Especially popular are snorkeling and scuba diving in the crystal blue waters. There are also plenty of golf courses for those who prefer to stay dry. The mild climate ensures warm but not too hot temperatures in the summer.

Bermuda's close relationship with the sea is evident when you visit the Bermuda Maritime Museum located at the King's Wharf port on the western side of the island. King's Wharf accommodates large cruise ships and has a lot of activities and restaurants near the port. Top on the list of must-see places are the arts and crafts center and a historic lighthouse. On the eastern side of the island is St. George's port. St. George's is a World Heritage Site. Here you can explore quaint cobblestone streets and enjoy shopping in local establishments.

There are several ports in the United States which you can depart from for a Bermuda cruise vacation. Some of the most popular are New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Norfolk, Virginia. Popular cruise lines that make stops in Bermuda are Norwegian, Princess and Royal Caribbean. The Bermuda cruise season runs from April - November with dozens of cruises calling on the two major ports of King's Wharf and St. George's.

Should I go on a normal resort vacation or a cruise?

Me and my family want to on a vacation over new years. We can't decide if we want to go to a resort in either cancun or the bahamas, or go on a caribbean cruise. Which one would you do and why? And if anyone knows about new years in cancun, bahamas, or on a cruise ship please let me know?

Ive been on a cruise ship that went to st thomas, st maarten and the bahamas, and I've also been to a resort in the mayan riviera, and ive also been to cancun. If I had to choose I would say go on a cruise because they are so much more fun than a resort. Not that resorts arent fun, theres just so much more going on on a cruise, and its fun being able to visit numerous places on one vacation. Cancun however is an extremly fun city to be in, and the culture is just amazing there. I went to coco bongo and that was the highlight of my trip in cancun, also went ziplining and swimming through the grotos, and snorkelling the reef. If you have any specific questions I can answer, just message me, or post some more details and I'll follow this question.

Private apartments to rent in Fuerteventura direct from the owners could be the answer for you if you don't want a package holiday. Some people, especially those who are regular travelers, can find organized holidays a bit constraining and would enjoy a stay in Spanish apartments to rent or Spanish holiday villas more than in a hotel. If you have internet access it is easy to find accommodation and flights that you can book yourself and you may find that you can save a bit of money as you are cutting out the middlemen and the commission they charge, when you book it yourself!

Fuerteventura is thought to be the oldest of the Canary Islands and was created about 70 million years ago as a result of volcanic activity. It has a fantastic climate with spring-like weather all year round with an average temperature of about 20ËsC which makes it a great place for Spanish holiday villas and Spanish apartments to rent. There are many types of private apartments to rent in Fuerteventura - some are cheap and cheerful, ideal for a base if you plan to spend most of your time on the beach, and others are luxurious with every home comfort provided.

If you are thinking of booking private apartments to rent in Fuerteventura, Corralejo and Costa Calma are two of the main resorts on the island. Correlejo is situated in the north of the island about 35km from the Airport and is one of Fuerteventura's liveliest resorts. Corralejo has a buzzing nightlife with a variety of entertainment to suit most tastes and ages. Many British tourists book Spanish holiday villas and Spanish apartments to rent here. In contrast Costa Calma which is 80km south of the airport is recommended if you want a quiet beach holiday as nightlife here is mostly hotel-based and the resort's main attraction is its long, white-sand beach.

If you have booked Spanish holiday villas or private apartments to rent in Fuerteventura you will find that the island has plenty of attractions and activities to keep you occupied. The main town on the island, Puerto del Rosario is worth a visit. It has a picturesque harbour and many excellent restaurants and bars. The Jandia Nature Reserve is located in the town of Pajara and is a blend of sand dunes and plant life. It is one of the most important areas of natural wildlife in the Canaries and numerous animals and insects can be found here including kestrels, stonechats, hawks, Egyptian vultures and lizards.

If you can tear yourself away from your luxury villa rental Spain there are many interesting places to visit if you are interested in history. The Archaeological Museum has displays of Aboriginal artifacts, most of which are examples of pottery but there are also bones and tools shaped from bone. The Cannons outside the museum were captured from attacking English Pirates, who were repelled by local farmers at the Battle of Tiscamanita in 1740. we share 97% of our DNA with Chimps AND we all, I need answers for the letter which i got through email.?

Message: I believe in evolution because it is everywhere. It is a theory, like gravity. A theory is a well tested hypothesis, gravity has not been proven but everyone knows that gravity exsists. If you go to certain islands in the Caribbean, there is proof of evolution everywhere. Plus there are fossils of neanderthals, we share 97% of our DNA with Chimps AND we all, everyone including animals, share a common ancestor. Not God, because God isn't man or an animal. "He" is not a he at all, he has not sex because he is nothing. Nobody knows what he is...energy? What is God? Nothing. Evolution is something and I do believe in both evolution and something that created evolution. I am not atheist. I think God is possible, but not likely.

Gravity is not a theory it is law. Gravity is a part of God's creation package, evolution theory is not.

What a difference that couple % difference makes!!! We all are made from the same stuff. We are made in the image of God means tath we know right from wrong.

Do not mix evolution as a change with evolution theory.
